CDC nixes ‘transgender identity data’ tracking

It’s unclear what transgenderism has to do with controlling diseases — the ostensible mandate of the Centers For Disease Control — unless it’s tracking the prevalence of mental illness via that metric.

But, of course, transgenderism is no longer officially a mental illness, after decades of categorizing it as such, following changes in the previous decade to the psychiatric “Bible” that ushered in, ironically, the current age of gender insanity.

Via The Advocate (emphasis added):

The newest edition of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, or DSM, will replace the diagnostic term "Gender Identity Disorder" with the term "Gender Dysphoria"

For years advocates have lobbied the American Psychiatric Association to change or remove categories labeling transgender people in a psychiatric manual, arguing that terms like "Gender Identity Disorder" characterize all trans people as mentally ill. Based on the standards to be set by the DSM-V, individuals will be diagnosed with Gender Dysphoria for displaying "a marked incongruence between one's experienced/expressed gender and assigned gender."

"All psychiatric diagnoses occur within a cultural context," said Jack Drescher, a member of the APA subcommittee working on the revision. "We know there is a whole community of people out there who are not seeking medical attention and live between the two binary categories. We wanted to send the message that the therapist's job isn't to pathologize."…

The new term implies a temporary mental state rather than an all-encompassing disorder, a change that helps remove the stigma transgender people face by being labeled "disordered."

The reason, of course, the purveyors of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders didn’t simply remove “gender identity disorder” entirely is because they still do, in fact, need to “pathologize” the condition to justify prescribing medication/surgery (hormones, surgical castration, etc.) to their victims.

So the diagnosis “gender dysphoria” is the happy middle ground they settled on.

Anyway, as far as the CDC is concerned, that’s all done with thanks to the Trump administration.

Via Stat News (emphasis added):

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention will no longer process transgender identity data in order to comply with President Trump’s executive order, agency representative Melissa Dibble told STAT on Tuesday…

The shift already has implications for the Youth Risk Behavior Surveillance System, a singular source of behavioral health data that’s collected from high schoolers every other year. Researchers depend on it to track health behaviors including sexual behavior, substance use, mental health, and more. State and local governments can use the data to develop youth initiatives and policies. It’s the only nationally representative data on trans youth.

To be honest, Stat News, while it’s clearly in the tank for the transgender agenda, makes a good point: tracking these lunatics’ self-delusions is actually a legitimate Public Health™ objective — not to “affirm” them but to quantify the fallout of activities like public school grooming, including Drag Queen Story Hour in which scantily clad men in womanface read erotica to kindergarteners for Equity™.

In related news, the transgender social engineers and activists are so fully ensconced in their gender- and delusion-affirming bubbles that they think complaining in public that their (probably lucrative) government jobs “explore how to safely collect sexual orientation and gender identity in cancer care practice” are on the chopping block will be compelling enough to engender public sympathy.

This lady’s job was not to actually do the allegedly vital work of “collecting sexual orientation and gender identity in cancer care practice” — which would be wasteful enough — but rather to study how to.
