The most obvious coincidence in Mark Zuckerberg’s come-to-Jesus moment that raises eyebrows is that Meta’s announcement that it is no longer going to suppress speech the government doesn’t like comes less than two weeks before the Trump takeover — after having gladly kicked off domestic terrorists (meaning anyone who criticized Anthony Fauci or teachers’ union groomers) from the platform at the behest of the Brandon regime for four solid years.

Relatedly, there’s the likelihood that Zuckerberg is jealous of all the limelight — negative and positive — that Elon Musk has garnered since buying X.
Autistic megalomaniacs, after all, don’t enjoy being ignored.
Several PJ Media writers have already attacked this angle, as summarized with links via Stephen Kruiser (emphasis added):
I think that Zuckerberg's pilgrimage up Mt. MAGA is motivated in no small part by being envious about the dizzying political heights that his fellow tech billionaire Elon Musk has risen to since he went all-in for President-elect Donald Trump last summer. It's the kind of power that Zuckerberg probably thought he was buying from the Biden administration in 2021 by doing its bidding. The Biden people merely wanted him to be an obedient lapdog, however.
Trump has given Musk a position in his upcoming administration that will enable him to affect real change. That has to be enticing to someone like Zuckerberg, who conquered the business world when he was still pretty much a kid.
That’s all probably true, and so fair play for pointing it out.
However, there’s another peculiarity to the timing that has gone largely ignored, which is that the announcement that basic constitutionally guaranteed civil liberties would no longer be subverted at the behest of the government — which is illegal on its face — came just 24 hours after Children’s Health Defense officially petitioned the United States Supreme Court to reconsider an Aug. 9, 2024 ruling by the notoriously liberal (meaning illiberal, because we live in upside-down world) Ninth Circuit which found that Meta acted “independently” when it censored true information related to COVID-19 at the behest of the Biden regime.

Via Children's Health Defense (emphasis added):
Less than 24 hours after Children’s Health Defense (CHD) petitioned the U.S. Supreme Court to hear its censorship case against Facebook’s parent company, Meta, Mark Zuckerberg announced the company is ending its third-party “fact-checking” program.
“It’s time to get back to our roots around free expression on Facebook and Instagram,” Zuckerberg told viewers in a press release video. Meta also owns Instagram.
CHD sued Meta in November 2020 over the social media giant’s censorship practices. The company de-platformed CHD from Facebook and Instagram in August 2022 and has not reinstated the accounts.
Commenting on today’s news, CHD CEO Mary Holland told The Defender, “It’s clear that Mark Zuckerberg is worried about new anti-censorship policies of the incoming administration — as he should be. The record in CHD v. Meta clearly shows Facebook’s close collaboration with the White House to censor vaccine-related speech, even pre-COVID.”
Here is the current petition awaiting SCOTUS review, which claims that Meta was acting as a state actor when it censored COVID-19 material because the state told it to (duh) and therefore violated, in collusion with the government, censored Americans’ First Amendment rights.
