Kim Kardashian Wants to be a Lawyer

“If things slow down and I had time, I really want to go to law school — just something I can do in my older age,” said reality TV star Kim Kardashian during an interview with Wonderland magazine. Kim’s apparent affinity for the legal system could be the result of a latent influence from her late father Robert Kardashian, who earned his law degree from the University of San Diego School of Law. He practiced for around 10 years and, famously, assisted in O.J. Simpson’s defense in 1994. Kim’s younger brother Rob also expressed an interest in attending USC Law School back in 2012, but the school denied this stating that Rob never even applied. But if Kim plans to follow through with her claim, she has a few obstacles ahead of her.

Currently, Kim possesses a high school diploma from Marymount High School, a Roman Catholic all-girls school in Los Angeles. To become a lawyer in the state of California, Kim would first need two years of undergraduate education (60 semester hours) and two years of pre-law (another 60 semester hours). Then she would have to take the LSAT (Law School Admission Test) which, in combination with her college GPA, is what law schools would look at before accepting (or rejecting) her. Then she would attend law school, which is typically a 3-year program. Sometime after completing her first year she would have to pass the MPRE (Multistate Professional Responsibility Examination); California (and Utah) requires a score of at least 86 to pass, which is the highest score of any state. Lastly, she would have to pass the California Bar Exam, and her chances of passing are, according to statistics, around 50%.

If Kim wants to free up time to attend 7+ years of intense schooling, she might need to curtail some of her various business ventures, like her role in her DVD production company Kimsaprincess Productions, her fragrance line, her Bebe clothing line, her e-commerce shoe shopping website ShoeDazzle, her DASH clothing boutiques, and her various product endorsements (e.g. Quick Trim, PerfectSkin). And certainly her nanny picks up a majority of the maternal duties for her 3-year-old daughter North and 9-month-old son Saint, but apparently Kayne wants to try for a third, so that may delay her law career a bit.

If and when Kim does decide to hit the books, assuming Keeping Up with the Kardashians is still on the air, her scholastic return would make for an interesting plot line. But if we really want to understand Kim’s timeline, we could use some clarification on how the 35-year-old defines “old age.”
