Repeal the 22nd Amendment

November 29th, 2013 - 2:29 pm

Jonathan Zimmerman: End presidential term limits.

There are some merits to this idea, and I can’t say I’m totally opposed. But allowing President Asterisk the chance to steal another election is no time to even think about repealing the 22nd.

Wait a minute; we still have a Constitution? Really?

I thought that The One had already pretty much destroyed that. (It certainly seems that way.) In most Banana Republics when a written constitution gets in the way of the established order, the constitution gets rewritten. Given that The One has the power to rewrite laws and stop enforcing laws He doesn't like, why not ignore the parts of the Constitution He doesn't like?

Dear Leader is just too awesome to be held down by written laws and the Constitution. Tell Secretary ("My-Husband-Cheated-On-Me-So_Make-Me-A-Senator") Clinton she'll just have to wait.

Well while we're at it lets strip the Executive functions from the Office of the President. Leaving it as the Head of State. And moving the exec duties to the new Office of the Prime Minister (AKA Speaker of the House).
See all those nasty little non-Progressive problems disappear with a little rationalization.

More to the point I'd limit public service at the national level to 12 years for the legislative branch, and keep the executive at 8. I'd include everyone, that's EVERYONE employed by these entities. Death to the permanent bipartisan fusion party bureacracy!!!

I'd also limit the judicial branch to 15, just so it doesn't coincide with either of the other branches, repeal 16th amendment in favor of the Fair Tax, repeal the 17th on principle and pass an amendment to apportion electors to one per county, parish, independent city equivalent. Think about that last one and how blue high population cities like Chi-town and Philly have frogmarched the country to where we are now. Recast the last election based on county turnout and see what might have been. Do this, for the children.

If we apportion 1 elector per county, the week after that is passed Alaska will have 3,562 counties. (About half as many as Rhode Island.)

2 terms should be the limit, and I'd extend that to the house and senate. Part of the problem is that government has become an industry of it's own, and this will go a long way to stopping it.

How about we make the limit one term. And add said limits to Congress.

One term is enough for any of these scoundrels. And if "diversity" is such an desirous goal, how about limiting the number of lawyers in congress. No more professional politicians. Make it like jury duty or the draft. Serve your country then go home and get a real job.
