Lying for Fun and Electoral Profit

November 19th, 2013 - 8:32 am

BUSTED

It was a big deal when unemployment dipped below 8% last year — just in time for the presidential election. There was a national sigh of relief, you could almost hear it. And then Obama was safely re-elected.

Just one problem, though. The numbers were made up:

Just two years before the presidential election, the Census Bureau had caught an employee fabricating data that went into the unemployment report, which is one of the most closely watched measures of the economy.

And a knowledgeable source says the deception went beyond that one employee — that it escalated at the time President Obama was seeking reelection in 2012 and continues today.

“He’s not the only one,” said the source, who asked to remain anonymous for now but is willing to talk with the Labor Department and Congress if asked.

The Census employee caught faking the results is Julius Buckmon, according to confidential Census documents obtained by The Post. Buckmon told me in an interview this past weekend that he was told to make up information by higher-ups at Census.

So what’s the real unemployment rate? We know it isn’t 7.3%, or whatever the new headline number is. But now we can’t trust the broader U-6 figures, either. The state of employment in this country is probably something like the status of Healthcare.gov — lousy, but somewhat easier to hide.

All this comes from Jeff Carter (via Glenn Reynolds) who adds:

The Obama administration has faked the census numbers that are used to compile unemployment statistics. Government stats are now no more believable than anything you read in the old Pravda. We know that China fakes most of their numbers. But, they aren’t a democratic country.

We know Obama lied about healthcare. We know he lied about Benghazi. He tells fibs about other things in the name of politics. But, no administration should ever intentionally lie about Labor statistics, crop reports or market moving government statistics.

Lies throw the capitalistic market mechanism off its kilter because it screws up transparency.

Transparency, truth, lives — none of these things matter when there’s an election at stake. These people — these Chicago thugs — are after power, and they mean to keep it.

Honestly, “President Biden” is the only reason not to impeach the lying SOB.

At this point President Biden holds NO terror. Also, I TOLD you those were faked. No, no, no proof, but it was obvious.

I imagine Biden would split his time between snoozing in the Oval Office and saying hilarious things on TV, which would be a significant improvement all around.

I know that Biden is a lead paint chip eating imbecile, but could be possibly be worse than Obama? Frankly, I'm willing to take my chances at this point.

Since I think that most savvy folks did the math and figured out the fake numbers, but they fact that that DID fake the numbers is something that can't and shouldn't be ignored.... We need INFORMED VOTERS, AND FOR THOSE WHO ARE INFORMED TO VOTE!!!

Yes the savvy folks knew the numbers were fake, but only 48% of us were savvy, the other 51% were low info voters who swallowed the lie completely, right along with the "you can keep it" lie. It did not help that the MSM reported the lie, and demonized anybody who dared to question it, like Jack Welch. And of course anybody who questioned the lie was just a paranoid racist tea partier anyway.

Well, at least with President Biden, you will *know*the information coming out of his mouth is wrong. The only question will be "is it a lie, or just plain stupidity?"

Focus people, the important thing is to fix the statistics so that when the GOP gets into power they don't just shift their lies in the other direction to put a thumb on the electoral scale.

This isn't about Obama *or* Biden. It's about the mandarinate of the permanent bureaucracy gaining the ability to swing elections as they please.

Mmm.. which would be worse? Lame-duck Obama, who probably can't get any new program thru Congress in the rest of his "reign" but could do a lot of harm with Executive Orders? or Crazy-uncle Joe, who would probably be easier to influence and even more prone to ill-advised initiatives, would probably benefit from our traditional "honeymoon" of enhanced political credit, and has already learned about executive orders from Obama - but is probably a less-skilled Alinksyite? Hard choice - I'm not sure there are any good ones.

There are facts. There are numbers. Then there are "politi-facts" which bear nothing in common with the truth. These "politi-facts" called the labor statistics are a measure of one thing only. How much statistics can be made to lie without seeming ridiculously obviously untrue. If the market is depending upon government transparency to work, then the market itself is broken. Of course a fair chunk of the crony market is paying to have that government opacity work in their favor.

"Because the regime is captive to its own lies, it must falsify everything. It falsifies the past. It falsifies the present, and it falsifies the future. It falsifies statistics. It pretends not to possess an omnipotent and unprincipled police apparatus. It pretends to respect human rights. It pretends to persecute no one. It pretends to fear nothing. It pretends to pretend nothing." - Vaclav Havel

There's something more than craven opportunism at work. These people want to see capitalism fail, and will throw as many bombs as they possibly can to make it happen.

This is just another one.

This makes the Dems push to stuff the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals with activist judges the real battle ground for now. This will be where Obama goes to stay in power. Watch for Reid to try and go simply majority soon to make this happen. Hopefully the Dem Senators on the bubble because of Obamacare will not be able to bring themselves to go along.
