Issa: Lerner Waived her 5th Amendment Rights

May 22nd, 2013 - 1:34 pm

Oopsies:

House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Chairman Darrell Issa said embattled IRS official Lois Lerner waived her Fifth Amendment rights and will be hauled back to appear before his panel again.

The California Republican said Lerner’s Fifth Amendment right to avoid self-incrimination was voided when she gave an opening statement this morning denying any wrongdoing and professing pride in her government service.

This is gonna get gooooooooood.

What an arrogant c*nt. She just couldnt RESIST making a statement, having her "moment" in front of the cameras telling off those creepy right wing a**holes, and (wink, wink) how GLAD she is that she stood in their way before the election...and walk off all Norma-jean like to the breathless approval of the Institutional Left...."Bravo you brave girl, stick it to them, and SMILE". I hope this stunt lands her in JAIL

Shrill elitism just screwed someone? In government? Maybe I'll delay the retirement to Costa Rica for a few more months.

IANAL, but that doesn't seem like a waiving of her rights. I'm pretty sure that you don't have to choose at the beginning of the trial whether you'll testify or not, you can instead choose to decline to answer single questions if you feel it appropriate. (The political fallout for doing so is, of course, another matter)

They should never have let her leave. Just pepper her with questions, and have her endlessly say, "On advice of counsel...." I want to see Obama administration people pleading the Fifth. I want to see lots of that. Grill. Her.

It's going to take a special prosecutor and a grand jury to get to the bottom of this. Otherwise the executive branch is going to stonewall all the way to Hell.

Given the destination, I wish them 'Bon Voyage'.

Alll right, what the heck is going on here? A Republican chairman aggressively pursuing an investigation of the Executive branch?

It's like somebody flipped a switch and all of a sudden Spock's got a beard!
