National Park Service Director Jonathan Jarvis takes “full responsibility” for the NPS closing memorials, parks and the sea to enforce the government shutdown. He admits that he presented “his decision” to enforce these closures to the White House. Supposing that what he says is accurate, the Obama White House knew that World War II veterans would be shut out of their memorial, but did nothing to stop it. The Obama White House knew that self-sufficient parks like the Claude Moore Colonial Farm in Virginia would be shut down, and privately managed parks on federal lands would be shut down, but did nothing to intervene. None of these sites were closed during previous shutdowns. The barricades actually cost more more money than simply allowing some sites to remain open.

He's a jerk, yes, and he ought to retire. However, Mengele tortured and "experimented" on live people, murdering many of them. It's this sort of outlandish hyperbole and exaggeration that makes the left think we're kooks. He's not Mengele, he doesn't even rise to the level of Mussolini. He's just a bureaucratic hack who's been in office too long.

That's a police state ladies and gentlemen. Using the threat of force to do things that are simply wrong. And the Dems call the GOP the Taliban. The Dem Party is destroying America, bit by bit.

These admissions should show the entire nation just how depraved and entrenched our so-called "journalists' are in their 'collective' ideology.....only when 'their' loved ones are sentenced to death by the death panels and rationing, only when 'their' special contacts fail to deliver critically needed procedures/treatments, only when 'their' influence wanes and they are lumped into serfdom along with the rest of us will they realize the folly of their ways....we need to remember 'them' as well, for 'they' are the main reason the modern communists and socialists are taking over our country. I fear that full armed insurrection may not be far away....I pray not.

Remember BENGHAZI!

States are foolish if they don't demand taking responsibility of the "national parks" after these jackboots have demonstrated their true character. These scumbags purposely tried to make ordinary, innocent Joes miserable.

If there is anybody that looks worse than politicians in these last sordid weeks, it's park rangers - bullies with a badge. They need to be taken down several notches and many of them looking for a new line of work.

Mr Jarvis should pay for the extra expenses out of his own pocket. Perhaps he could sell his house to pay for it

WH was also involved in IRS targeting of political opponents. EPA hassling of political opponents. And OSHA hassling political opponents. The NSA snooping on political opponents. And the DoJ suieng political opponents.

Actually, his real Mengele is Valerie Jarrett (but that is an entirely different topic).

Retire, after being tried for perjury (lying to congress is a crime). However, it is not just conservatives that are using outlandish hyperbole. Who is it again that said that Republicans are "terrorists" and therefore cannot be negotiated with?

He also said that the NPS "facilitated" the honor flights. Many of the Republican congressmen where there (and Jarvis was not) when this "facilitation" took place. In effect Jarvis is saying: Who are you going to believe, me or your lying eyes.

In this situation, I guess "NPS facilitated the honor flights" means "NPS didn't arrest the nice little old men and throw them all in jail." I'm not sure that's the kind of help America expects from our park rangers.

You know, I checked my dictionary, and can find no definition of "facilitate" that rationally corresponds to "didn't arrest". However, I also checked the definition of perjury, and that seems to fit real well.

And? Wanna bet the GOP does nothing about it? Presented with a smoking gun and a body, the GOP these days wouldn't be able to get so much as a parking ticket out of it, much less a conviction in court.

So the White House was "involved?" Jarvis' statement doesn't support the narrative that the WH ordered NPS to close the parks to "make the shutdown hurt." Instead, it sounds like the WH just let him use his judgement and do whatever he thought needed to be done. As far as I know, individual agencies are responsible for their own shutdown plans - they are not personally edited by Barack Obama. He may pull strings at the IRS, but with most other agencies, he delegates.

Whether he delegates cluelessly or callously is another matter.

You're not getting the point, and your criticism is in some ways close to those on the left that Bill Maher criticizes. I'm not a big fan of Bill, but my wife watches him and I occasionally wander through the room at the wrong point. Anyway, one of his major points is that George W. Bush was either a) stupid or b) an evil conspirator. He can't be both, because the one precludes the other. Obama's either a moron, or he's controlling every aspect of the Federal Government, deciding which agency shuts down and which one stays open.

My guess is he doesn't have to tell them which agencies and departments to shut down. Civil Service, from what I understand, is mostly Democrats, especially at the higher levels. They already *know* what to shut down, even if the President never says a word. Why he bothered to call them to inform them what he was going to do is beyond me. It's not like this (or a more mild version of it anyway) hasn't happened every time there's been one of these shut-downs. There's a reason it's called "Washington Monument Syndrome," and it's because it's been done repeatedly for decades now.

Obama's not the only person in government who thinks the Dems should win this, without any strings attached. My guess is if you could poll Federal workers (excluding the military) he'd have 80-90% unqualified support.

Exactly. Illiberals like 'Monster..' View politics through a prism of their liking. 'W' is/ was dumb though he 'mysteriously' changed and/ or convinced all of our allies and NATO's intel community's findings post-9/11 of WMD in Iraq/ M E.

Furthermore this 'dummy' convinced then-Senator HRC, Durbin and other Illiberals into the hawks.. Their speeches can be see/ heard on YouTube. For now.

The 'reasoning' of folks like Monster is cherry picked, mostly fictional information whereas the conclusion's the first to take shape and the biased, intellectually lazy narrative follows.

Much like the IPCC, PNNL, NWS/NOAA, realclimate, Teleprompter Jesus' daily moronic pontificating and any other federally funded, NWO-seeking, devolving stance of emotive-led empathy will prevail idiocy.

Exactly. Obama is no éminence grise. Plenty of people already do what he would have told them to do anyway. All he has to do is let them.

Alright we've already established Uhbama likes to read prompts, err 'speak' right?

Where was he, if not front in center of the tele but a radio mike the moment the NPS acted in this draconian fashion?

For this totalitarian tactic lasted for days, there was a march onto and into these closed D.C. memorials.

Privately-owned businesses tried to re-open and were given dire consequences if continue doing so.

Tourists were forced to stay in their hotels, vehicles, off beaches etc.,

Your covering for this chump of a President defies reason.
