Well, I guess – in this case – we should thank some Illinois Democrats that turned against the more anti-gun of their own party.  Mike Flynn at Breitbart wrote on April 18 that a good proportion of them “revolted” against Speaker of the House, Michael Madigan, whose restrictions within a bill on concealed carry firearms proved to be too much for some.

Illinois is currently the only state in the country which doesn’t allow its citizens to have a concealed-carry gun permit. In December 2012, a federal appeals court struck down the state’s ban on concealed-carry permits, effectively ordering the state to enact the gun rights’ permit. The state is under a court-ordered deadline to pass the legislation.

On Wednesday, Dem leadership in the House moved legislation that would put severe restrictions on concealed-carry permits. It would provide that local law enforcement officials “may issue” permits, a provision that would allow local officials to effectively deny citizens in a particular jurisdiction a permit. “Must issue” permits, as long as certain criteria are met, conform more to our 2nd Amendment rights as local officials are not given the power to deny the permits.

The Chicago Tribune reported that the bill was rejected 76-31, which is significant because Democrats hold 71 of the 118 seat in the Illinois House of Representatives.  As Flynn aptly pointed out, Obama’s home state – and members of his own party – won’t go along with gun control.

It is my hope that the Illinois Senate will follow through with what Michael Madigan tried in the House. Too much gun violence already.

And of course, those gangbangers - the benevolent caring people who they are - will decide that while they ignore all the other gun laws they will magnanimously surrender their guns, start singing kumbaya, and leave in peace and harmony.
