Two men invaded the home of a Maypearl, TX family today. Maypearl is in Ellis County, south of Dallas. Only the wife was home. She spotted the men trying to break in, called her husband, who came home, retrieved the family gun, and confronted the two invaders.  A shootout ensued, the man wounded one of the invaders, and then the invaders apparently killed themselves.

The Ellis County sheriff’s department spokesman, Lt. James Saulter, said “It’s another reason that we’re good with our homeowners being armed. I believe there would’ve been a different outcome if they hadn’t been armed. Our suspects were heavily armed.”

The homeowners will face no charges.

I'm waiting for the day when a line like "The homeowners will face no charges." will not be necessary at the end of an article like this, because everyone would react by saying "No duh!", and the opposite would be utterly shocking.

My wife wouldn't have waited until I got home. That's why she has her own pistol, 20 gauge shotgun, and 7.62 x 39 rifle.

The report this morning said the two were teens from Oklahoma who had stolen one of their dad's pick-up, along with his guns and ammo and headed south.

There was still no report on why they did it, and you'd think if this was some sort of Kliebold and Harris Columbine type of teen suicide attack rage, they would have done something in their home area against the people they were mad at, instead of heading 200 miles south on I-35. The big media would love to trumpet the first part of this story about the stolen guns and ammo, but they can't because of the second half of the story of the armed homeowners protecting their own lives by being armed. So expect this to be a one-day story in the media at best, and some of the usual suspects won't mention it at all, despite the bizarre ending.

There is more to this story: the perps were teens - one of whom took his parents' truck and guns while they were out. No one sure what prompted this , but it is a real mess for all concerned.

Chances of seeing this in the LSM? Less than winning the Powerball.

I'll bet that we do see something on this - once they figure out how to spin this against his parents having all that weaponry and ammunition in the house.

The home invaders shot themselves? Sounds... odd.
