The Labor Department announced Wednesday that Friday’s report will be released at 8:30 a.m., as scheduled, after concerns earlier in the week that the report might be delayed as Sandy wreaked havoc on the East Coast.
Officials with the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) said Monday they were monitoring the storm, and no decision had been made as to whether the jobs report would have to be delayed. They added they had every intention of getting it out on time.
Now that the storm has largely abated, BLS confirmed that there will be no delay in the hotly anticipated report.
So now we have the possibility of an October Surprise, with California or some other large blue state impacting the national numbers by failing to report theirs. On the other hand we should see revisions to the numbers from the last couple of weeks.

“So now we have the possibility of an October Surprise, with California or some other large blue state impacting the national numbers by failing to report theirs.”
NY, NJ and CT will more than suffice to fit that bill.
The numbers were compiled before the storm hit.
Attentive observers know that but most of the public does not. Just sayin’…
The Bureau of Labor Statistics’ proven loose morality when it comes to unemployment statistics leads me to believe that this Friday’s report will be the definition of what a report is not.
I’ve already seen pre-emptive explanations by Obama surrogates in the news. Just this morning there was an article on Bloomberg News advising voters not to base their choice for President on tomorrow’s employment data. LOL. If they expected the number to be good, they wouldn’t have run an article like that.
Last month’s figure was an outlier- this month regresses to the mean, and they know it.
Let me guess, BLS will state that employment is at 150%!
What a surprise!
Government employees acting in blatantly partisan patterns, distorting reports and withholding bad news so as to support candidates who promise to give more money to government employees…
Who’da thunk it?
“Unemployment unexpectedly climbs back to 8.3%. U-6 rises to 20%”.
Unexpectedly, of course.
And after 40 some months of being told, each and every month, “…don’t read too much into those numbers” what bulls*$t will they come up with THIS time?
