Recall that in the third debate, President Obama claimed that he did not come up with the sequesters and that “it will not happen.” It has already been reported that his administration did come up with the sequester. Now, in that Des Moines Register interview that was briefly off the record, he touts the sequester as a means by which he will achieve spending cuts.
OBAMA: “So when you combine the Bush tax cuts expiring, the sequester in place, the commitment of both myself and my opponent — at least Governor Romney claims that he wants to reduce the deficit — but we’re going to be in a position where I believe in the first six months we are going to solve that big piece of business.” [emphasis added]
He made this statement the day after he said that the sequester “will not happen,” while he was mocking his own defense secretary’s warning that the cuts would dangerously shrink the military. Is this what the president has taken to calling “Romnesia?” Or just plain old dishonesty?
I think what he’s trying to hide are the remarks about immigration reform. Iowa has had a problem with illegal immigration, especially in the meatpacking industry.

How on earth could anything he said there and then have anything to do with what he is saying in Iowa now? You’re talkin about a lightworker, man, not a knuckle dragging human being.
Because words and concepts are not concrete blocks, as you seem to think they are. They can be easily moved and transferred to different situations.
More particularly, words and concepts, properly monitored, are an accurate representation of the speaker himself.
Example-when a person claims that he does not support something one day, then adamantly turns around and claims to support the exact opposite less than 72 hours later, it is perfectly reasonable to assume that this particular speaker is a liar. Indeed, scientific probability strongly supports the concept that the speaker is a liar. The distance between where the statements exit the man’s physical mouth doesn’t make one ******* lick of difference in the matter.

Went to an event to listen to Rep. Mo Brooks (R-AL) last week and he mentioned this. He pointed out that the House has been trying to fix this for a year and has passed several bills, all of which the Senate leadership has taken no action on whatsoever. As he said, “it’s not that we have different negotiating positions. It’s that they won’t even come back with a counter-offer.”
Obama is a sleazy Chicago without a clue about how to fix the economy pol and the Des Moines Register will endorse him anyway. The mediaswine are more clueless than the Prez.

There is an even more frightening implication in this for the Obama campaign. If this is an indication that the press may be developing a rudimentary spine, Obama’s ability to pander effectively to different audience, lovingly protected from any silly expectations of consistency by the media, will be impaired. If Obama loses the ability to lie smoothly and brazenly, his will have lost his most valuable campaign tools, in more ways than one!
I am totally disgusted with the DM Register – is nothing sacred in journalism anymore? We all know politics are dirty but people go into it with passion and simplicity and later are corrupted by ambition and greed – I live in IA and up until now I always respected the DM Register but not now.
