Eric Marshall, “Manager of Legal Mobilization” at the Lawyers Committee for Civil Rights is badgering Clear Channel Communications to take down this billboard in Cleveland, Ohio:
Does Marshall have a problem with the billboard’s accuracy? Hardly. The Plain Dealer quotes a demand letter from Marshall saying the signs,
“stigmatize the African-American community by implying that voter fraud is a more significant problem in African American neighborhoods than elsewhere,” and the billboards “attach an implicit threat of criminal prosecution to the civic act of voting.”
In my book Injustice, I document how once proud civil rights groups have become intellectual smokescreens for criminal wrongdoing in American elections. Not only do these groups deny that voter fraud exists, they now consider discussion of the laws that prohibit it to be a racially motivated attack. We have reached a point of nuttiness that mere discussion of the law results in demands to stop speaking of such things.
“Clear Channel has a choice,” Marshall said. “Contract or not, it is not right to be putting intimidating messages up in predominately minority neighborhoods.”
First, these groups frequently say “minority neighborhoods are targeted” without a shred of evidence. The Plain Dealer reports a region-wide campaign. Consider also for a moment what is “intimidating” about the billboards. It’s not like there are photos of New Black Panthers standing in front of a poll with billy clubs, or, Klansmen. So the mere description of Ohio statute, according to Marshall, must be intimidating.
Quick, hide the law books! Nobody breathe a word about voter fraud round here, someone might get scared!
This is what the Lawyer’s Committee has become in 2012 – a facilitator of racial paranoia. Our culture has degraded to the point where stating the truth, the empirical about voter fraud laws, is not met with praise, but rather with threats from lawyers. Incidentally, here is the Lawyer’s Committee’s 2008 condemnation of the New Black Panther Party appearance at the polls in Philadelphia. (Psyche! There really was no condemnation, but you already knew that.)
On cue, the paranoid opponents of free speech and the rule of law have organized a rally.
Cleveland City Councilwoman Phyllis Cleveland and State Sen. Nina Turner will hold a rally at 11 a.m. Thursday in front of a billboard at the East 35th Street location to discuss their efforts to get the signs removed.
Ponder the racially demeaning assumptions behind the demand to remove the billboards. Once upon a time, no more than ten years ago, Marshall’s letter and Turner’s rally would be laughed at. Today, unfortunately, they represent a widening tolerance of lawlessness in American elections. Will the billboard’s sponsors and the local GOP Chairman Rob Frost have the courage to hold fast, or will they capitulate?

I personally say have the race war and see how it comes out. Since it appears the only other option is to just allow one demographic in America a permanent exemption on just about everything. Nuts to that.
Personally, I’m liking the balance of potential power, so I like the race war idea better, if the above are my two choices. Nobody tells me I have to say someone else’s crap don’t stink when it does.
Just so any liberal tripping through doesn’t get the wrong idea, rooting for a race war has us conservatives mostly shaking our heads and muttering things under our breath that won’t make it past the submission filter just like you just did. Conservatives have a love of community, community that would be ripped to shreds by a race war. We’re in favor of the 2nd amendment because when people know that guns are in play, they generally look for alternate solutions to violence.
And the racial solution here is quite simple if it really were a problem with singling out black neighborhoods. If you think the white neighborhoods are being skimped, pick out some billboards for running the exact same thing in the white neighborhoods, hold a press conference, and essentially say “here, fixed that for you”. Get a distribution map and lay out how a more wide distribution would be more racially sensitive. Pass the hat and come with a big check. That way black leaders look like people concerned with discrimination, not promoting lawlessness.
My friend, it seems to me you are going to lose your liberty because you are more concerned with defending yourself from being attacked by liberals than you are concerned with defending liberty itself.
I’m done with political correctness. If the black community thinks they are going to get a permanent exemption from the rules the rest of us follow because of the past, they have another think coming. You’re not wanting to fight that fight does not mean it is not a fight that does not need to be fought. If that requires being a *jerk* and saying some unpleasant things to get brains uncaged, so be it.
If voting is patriotic, isn’t voting more than once REALLY patriotic?
Oops. I think I may have been in a blue state too long.
People get arrested for voter fraud all the time, even politicians, so I think its a PSA.
I bet the guy convincing you to vote twice doesn’t tell you how serious it is. “No big deal”
I’d like to know it was a felony before the organizer gets me to commit one.
But Marshall and Holder and friends are making sure that if you vote twice, or ten times, there is no risk as long as you’re voting the correct way. So the billboard is misleading.
This election IS a fraud. They know it. Many of us know it. They’re frantically trying to hide the fact from enough people so that there won’t be a civil war starting the 2nd week of November.
If the Right to vote is so important to Coucilwoman Phyllis Cleveland and State Sen. Nina Turner, isn’t it just as important to protect their right from fraud?
How would they feel if, come election day, they were turned away from the polls because someone had already cast their ballot?
The race war rages in blue cities and states much more then in Red Cities and States. I don’t think these two “public servants” shown above are anything to be impressed with.
I could see how such billboards could be offensive to Dems since they routinely engage in voter fraud.
Oh the irony of these posts on a day where a Republican politician gets caught for voting twice. Hilarious, but yup it’s the liberals that are the problem right? sheep…..
All criminals are Liberals, because the take liberties with the law.
Democrats are the most racist, and cheating prone, folks that I know of.
Perhaps the best way to view this is by comparing it to Klan activity in the 1870s South to reestablish white supremacy by keeping freed slaves and Unionist Republicans from voting. My great-great-great grandfather was in the latter group and was was killed in 1874 during the Democratic Party’s campaign to win by ‘Ballots or Bullets.’ He apparently received one or more of the bullets.
But it is also possible to illegally win elections by ‘ballots’–either by intimidating certain voters so they don’t cast their ballots or by casting fraudulent ballots. I’m sure both were used in the 1870s South to reestablish a Democratic party domination that endured, accompanied by high levels of incompetence and corruption, until the 1960s.
This is simply that agenda pared down. Killing is no longer possible. Voter intimidation, again by vicious personal attacks on those who vote Republican is still possible in some communities, particularly among black people.
And finally there’s the additional votes of voter fraud. In practice, it doesn’t matter whether a Klan-like group is keeping people from voting or a group like this “Lawyers Committee for Civil Rights” that seems to want to create illegal, bogus votes that counter the legitimate votes than honest people cast in order to elect–yet again–Democrats.
I’ve long felt suspected that a major slice of the liberal black elite has simply taken on the foul policies and practices of the old, segregated South as its political model. Voter fraud is one example of that. Unable to keep whites or black Republicans from voting, they effectively destroy those votes with fraudulent ones.
I submit that the aspirations of the Democrat party have not changed since they attempted to break the Union following Lincoln’s election. They *still* want to live comfortably off the labor of others — a few particulars have changed, but the basic goal is the same.
There is not a word about racism in the poster. It seems that we have gotten to the point where an action is ‘illegal’ because it could offend some people, or because it doesn’t equally offend everybody. If blacks are more likely to be offended ( and we do not know that) does that make this illegal? Does that give anybody the right to
DEMAND that it be taken down.
This is one more example of how much freedom we have already lost in this country. and how racist we are becoming. This morning a “news” article listing “useless white people came out, naming names. Not a word of of criticism. Now imagine a list of useless blacks. Would that be ignored, I am sick and tired of racist treatment because I am white
Simple solution: Whenever a liberal cries, “Racism!” without clear evidence, then we should cry back, “McCarthyism!” For what was McCarthyism but the tendency to call people whose politics you disagree with “communists,” without proof thereof. That’s not to say there were not communists back in the day (or even today) — just as there are still racists today (albeit not as prevalent as they were decades ago).
This would have the delicious effect of throwing liberals into a state of cognitive dissonance even greater than their regular such state. For there is no crime worse in the eyes of many liberals than McCarthyism. And they will instantly understand the argument that one is making: “You are accusing people of holding a certain abhorrent view without substantial proof. This is an injustice.”
The problem with your proposed response is that McCarthy was 100% correct we learned through the Verona transcripts after the Soviet Union fell.
His tactics, and the lack of support from what we would today call the Rino wing of the party, are why his name was morphed into a slur.
Just one more piece of evidence that you can’t have a rule of law society with Leftists in it. Either they go, or it does.
I vote that they go.
Won’t the most damaging fraud be in the COUNTING, by SCYTL in Spain? How can this non-transparent process be allowed to happen? Christian, please address this topic.
SCYTL = non issue.

Anyone who spends 10 minutes worry about SCYTL but not signing up to do poll watching or work as a poll official is doing a grave disservice to the country with misplaced priorities.
