After taking a debate shelling that showed up on NORAD’s radar last night, President Obama is trying to get his campaign back on track. Today his staff have been aggressively tweeting quotes from the debate to reframe the day, and this one tweeted out a little bit ago.
Obama did say that during the debate last night. But in the same debate, he said this:
OBAMA: When I walked into the Oval Office, I had more than a trillion-dollar deficit greeting me. And we know where it came from: two wars that were paid for on a credit card; two tax cuts that were not paid for; and a whole bunch of programs that were not paid for; and then a massive economic crisis.
And he also said this:
I think we’ve got to invest in education and training. I think it’s important for us to develop new sources of energy here in America, that we change our tax code to make sure that we’re helping small businesses and companies that are investing here in the United States, that we take some of the money that we’re saving as we wind down two wars to rebuild America and that we reduce our deficit in a balanced way that allows us to make these critical investments.
If the two wars are paid for on a “credit card” as the president says, how then are we going to reduce the deficit by taking that money and just spending it on something else? Wouldn’t it make more sense just to not spend that money at all? Since, you know, we don’t have it in the first place?
So that’s one problem. Here’s another. In the tweet, Obama says he’ll use the war money to “put more people back to work.” A dollar spent by the government is a dollar taxed out of the free market, either now or at some point in the future, so that’s a dollar taken out of the economy and put back in, only less efficiently than if it was spent within the free market. But there’s yet another problem in that statement. The government is spending the money now. That spending is paying someone’s salary now. If you stop spending in one direction and merely spend it in another, aren’t you just endangering one set of jobs while you’re setting up a preference for another? How does this produce a net gain? Obama doesn’t say, because he has no idea.
The war money is currently being spent on war stuff — the troops, their supplies, their hardware, development of future war stuff. Where does Obama intend to spend that credit card money that would be better than spending it to defend us from terrorists? More Obama Phones?
Distill it all down, and it’s clear that Barack Obama simply doesn’t understand how the real world works. That’s why he’s a lousy debater.

What do you want from him – economic coherence?
Coherence of any sort would be good — for a start. Come to think, he’s had four years –to start– where’s “the start”?! All I see is an upstart, who got where he is under false pretext, and a false MSM (=propaganda ministry) narrative that “the pie” is always just one small size, and with the help of Cloward-Piven strategy, and Far Left race-baiters. Last night, those memes no longer worked. About time!
And this baloney about ‘high altitude’. If obama has been in a plane so much the last week the CABIN altitude of a jet is around 5000 ft pressure altitude.
He has had lots of time to get used to Denver’s ‘mile high’.
Granted obama might have had a little jet lag, but he almost never looked at romney, was INCENSED at being stopped ’5 seconds’ early ? And he got several minutes MORE time than romney.
Of course, the little boy stomped his feet an complained all day thursday and friday.
He reminded me of that movie ‘heartbreak ridge’ with clint eastwood, when after the puerto rican marine had his clock cleaned and clint eastwood left the building, the kid started mouthing off about ‘it’s a good thing he left, i was just about to show him a thing or two – or some such.’
such is the case with that type of narcissist. can’t take the heat.
after the press has fawned all over him for years, daddy comes home and cleans his clock. the the little guy fusses moans and complains.
LOL
As Obama’s cover story comes down, the curtain goes up on the USAO’s cover-up of J.J., Jr.’s role in the Blago story
http://illinoispaytoplay.com/2012/10/05/as-obamas-cover-story-comes-down-the-curtain-goes-up-on-the-usaos-cover-up-of-j-j-jr-s-role-in-the-blago-story/
Take it easy on the little guy. Bless his heart. He doesn’t know from credit cards, debit cards and such.
It’s not like he’ll be answering the phone when the collection agencies start calling.
I intend to follow the President’s example. I intend to use the money I save by not buying a Ferrari to pay off all my credit cards. Sound good to you?
Use the money you save by not buying a Ferrari to pay off the credit cards.
Then use the credit cards to buy a Ferrari.
But don’t buy a second Ferrari.
Use the money you saved by not buying a second Ferrari to… … …
The way to fix my household budget deficit is to take the money I have already spent on the security system and somehow get it back from the ether and plunge it directly into the toilet.
This doesn’t help keep my family safe and destroys the plumbing.
And, if two wars were costing so much money…why enter a third in Libya, then fail to protect the people you sent there to clean up the mess?
And…if throwing money at “education” actually produced results, we should see a correlation between the highest cost per student and academic achievement. If, instead…paying lazy and corrupt bureaucrats exorbitant union perks and pensions is the goal, in exchange for Democratic kickback votes…we’re on the right track.
I’ll use the money I’m not spending on a new Corvette and use it on, oh, I don’t know, maybe a swimming pool, or a ski chalet in Aspen, or perhaps a beach front house in Florida, or maybe a houseboat. Apparently, economic coherence IS too much to ask.
cfb you made me laugh so hard I startled the dog.
Doubling the Dept of Education budget (i.e., the amount of money then pushed out to local schoold district’s, colleges/universities, etc.) has produced the fashionable, high-speed 2009 Thomas Saf-T-Liner C2 school bus every school district just has to have, public teachers unions demanding more money, higher college tuition and more six-figure administrators at college/university level. Yay.
– and collegiate debate, you are assigned to argue pro or con of a selected issue or topic. You prepare for that. Some in forensics go on to practice law. Whether you are a district attorney or public defender or plaintiff or defense counsel in civil litigation, you prepare for trial. You may have to make a case to a jury, sometimes just a judge. You prepare for that. Some go on to seek public office. The easiest case to be made is when running for re-election. You have a record and future plans. In speaking to groups or in debating your opponent(s), you take questions — or even turn the questions — so as to tell the voters what you have accomplished, what you haven’t accomplished but intend to do if given another term. Clinton knew how to do this, even if you didn’t like him or disagreed with his past actions and future proposals. Everything has come too easily to Obama. He is never asked to make his case for re-election.
That is because he doesn’t want to discuss his record. It stinks.
Well, he was given the opportunity to make the case last night and he failed miserably. I guess you could say our Affirmative Action President just fumbled his first real job interview.
Perhaps Romney’s MBA, earned simutaniously with a Law Degree at Harvard, gave him the edge. So yes, Mr. President, it is “math, its arithmatic” and Mitt knows it better than apparently than the so-called ‘smartest guy’ in the room, who appeared to constipated.
Well, some of us have long known that Obama really isn’t that bright. One can’t begin paying down a debt unless one has a SURPLUS. Duh!
The only issue I take with the article is that it isn’t just Obama who doesn’t understand how our economy works, it’s the entire democratic party that doesn’t get it. When’s the last time we received pearls of wisdom on the economy from the likes of Reid, Pelosi, Schummar? Oh yea, never!
I can easily believe that Obama doesn’t understand the American economy, or economics generally. Open your dictionary to “dimbulb” and you’ll find his picture…well, if it’s a recent dictionary. But I think that among the Democrats in high office you’d find some who do understand those things. As the saying goes, they might have another agenda; in fact, I’d say that nearly all of them do. But not all of them are both stupid and economically ignorant.
Brad, a high percentage of America doesn’t understand economics.
Many of those are professional economists.
The much-loved by the left, Paul Krugman?
That’s the problem when you live in a world of talking points. You can’t lay out all the parts and assemble them again logically.
Then I’m going to WalMart where I’ll buy ten billion dollars worth of TVs. Since we save 30 percent on each one, I’ll put that extra $3 billion into the deficit.
Makes sense to me!
You, Sir, are a genius. Run for office. I’ll vote for you. Can I have a free phone?
This wasn’t a ‘new’ Obama last night. It was the same Obama that puts people to sleep during the State of the Union, or the bajillions of televised speeches he’s made and fewer and fewer people watched. He is a ho-hum speaker at best and his ideas do stink.
He could only carry the discussion when it was a fairy tale and everybody wanted to be read to before sleeping…
.. but we’re awake now, most of us anyway.
Obama doesn’t think he has to make sense. His modus operandi for years has been to use high sounding platitudes given out in a mesmerizing way. Last night it didn’t work. Clint Eastwood was right, the chair is empty.
That’s the modus operandi for most black preachers. They have a culture of revering those who can give an emotional delivery and get a crowd worked up. Content? Ah, not so important. The rousing, emotional delivery, timed to work people into, if not a frenzy, at least a rousing good shouting time, has been the mainstay of black churches for a loooong, loong time. It’s their Sunday morning entertainment.
Just tune in to any low-powered Christian AM station and listen.
Now, take that mindset, take a people who have a common respect for “religion” but who don’t get actual Biblical teaching and don’t even know it, who are not expected to THINK, but to EMOTE, and what do you have? A people that is ripe for being infiltrated and led like sheep to the slaughter, right to a jungle in Guyana, or onto the Democrat plantation.
And that’s what’s happened.
I’ll be called a racist for pointing this out, but oh, well. It’s still true.
It’s not race. It’s culture.
The Empty Chair got sat on and collapsed. Turned to kindling. Time to sweep it out.
“Distill it all down, and it’s clear that Barack Obama simply doesn’t understand how the real world works.”
Yep. Obama also tried to explain some process where “if a patient’s coming in, let’s get all the doctors together at once, do one test instead of having the patient run around with 10 tests.” Am I in left field in thinking that getting ‘all the doctors together at once’ would be MORE expensive? Aren’t they having enough difficulty trying to see just their own patients? And wouldn’t ‘all the doctors together’ order MORE test(s) than one doctor? It appears to me he doesn’t understand the U.S. economy, health care or energy and he’s trying to fundamentally transform all . . . for the worse.
you sir, are right on the money! Of course this was not the only dumb thing he had to say but it sure did stick out and pointed out his total lack of brain power….
I had the same reaction when he said that. How any adult to put forth such an idea and expect to be taken seriously is beyond me.
Your conclusion is right on the money. — The real problem begins with the premise: He doesn’t understand the REAL world. Granted.
He DOES understand the UNREAL world, in which his big fairytale worked big at least once. He’s hoping there are still a great many dumbells out there who also still believe in fairies. He’s also hoping to recruit a few more. His speech at today’s rally proves that. There ARE a lot of “magical thinkers” out there, to whom he appeals hugely. — So, BEWARE. Keep hitting!
Or, as Ayn Rand might have said: “When confronted with a paradox, check your premises.” O’bo ‘s always banked on “Magic”, his and others’! Beware!
Sorry but I must disagree. Dear Leader is a student of communism/marxism. He knows full well what he is doing and also does what he is told. He is putting into action the things he learned from everyone in his circle of life.
The fact that he is incompetent and an affirmative action flunky is beside the point. The fact that for all his life, he has been given everything and got into all the schools he wanted was on full demonstration last night is similarly beside the point. The fact that he is incapable of a cogent argument using logic is the outcome of his “made” life.
It is exactly because he is these things is why the left chose him. It is also the reason to be wary of him because he will do whatever is necessary to win re-election and destroy our nation.
Precisely. When all is said and done, he was just bored during the debate. He rules by fiat. The election is meaningless. Once all the faux-legal bits are in place, he will start shutting down our old system and putting his empire in place. If this election goes like anything resembling normal I will be shocked.
Obama wasn’t bored during the debate; he was offended that he had to be there at all, pretending to respect an adversary whom he disdains and who represents everything he hates about white, right-wing America.
NO. The NewLeft chose him not so much because he is these things. — Thousands of the NewLeft persuasion are exactly like this, as well as personable. — They chose HIM because he is particularly good at hiding all these real, but unsupportable, things behind a “magical” narrative; behind a vage, mystical, magic light show of their dreams.
That makes him the perfect scrim curtain upon which to project just about anything and everything, while letting just enough “reality” shine through to make the magic narrative blend into believability.
In a certain sense that makes O’Bo the very much alive embodiment of Bezerkely Professor Lackoff’s “conceptual metaphor”. A living, breathing, walking, talking model of it. Everything has its price, however, meaning he doesn’t KNOW what he’s talking about. That’s O’Bo’s downfall.
He can only repeat -and slightly embellish- the narrative; that is, so long as the teleprompters keep working. He can “spin a yarn”, create the metaphor in unlimited variety, but collapses when somebody calls him on the meaning of its concept. THAT he has failed to understand, and hence cannot concretize. It’s as if somebody had taught him that 2+2=4, but not why. When somebody else comes along to insist that it =5, or =3, he can’t answer. — Exactly my recipe from July in a comment here concerning Lackoff’s “conceptual metaphor” meme, and how to defeat “the big lie” based on it. Romney practiced it masterfully. Let’s hope he -and his campaign- keep doing that, loudly and visibly!
They’ve created a fairy-tale world. They hope, expect, yearn to believe it’s real. They say wonderful things about it. Heck, I wish the Liberal’s world was real and I could work for 3 hours 2 days a week and get raises every month and have full health care and a free electric car. Obama tells them what they are yearning to believe is true. Obama is telling them it is possible. It sounds good. Fairy-tales are always popular. Everyone wants to be a prince who meets the perfect princess in the perfect kingdom. I think it would be cool to have a herd of unicorns in my yard. Unlike Obama and Liberals, we know that this fairy-tale is as real as pixie dust.
I like how Obama is behaving as if we never spent a dime on the stimulus. We spent over $800 billion on those “shovel ready” jobs, and what did we get for it? A lot of nothing. A few union jobs were saved for Obama’s cronies and for Pelosi and Reid, but that was about it. All that money literally flushed down the toilet with not much to show for it. Government does not create lots of jobs, the private sector does. We’ve gone down this road alread, and all it does is increase our debt without reducing the rate in unemployment. This must stop and Romney understands that.
Two words: VOTER FRAUD.
Memorize those two words and remember them the morning after the election.
Have a nice day.
No voter fraud will be needed. Romney is going to trounce the clothesless Emperor by 6-8%.
The professional rabble rousers are going to take one look at the turnout and go home with their tails between their legs.
The Tea Partiers and the rest of the GOP cannot WAIT until voting day.
The core of Obama’s constituency is not going to vote this time because they are afraid that if they do something twice in four years that someone will accuse them of actually having a job and they may lose some of their government benefits.
OBAMA: When I walked into the Oval Office, I had more than a trillion-dollar deficit greeting me.
That was a flat-out lie. The Democratic Congress did not finish the 2009 budget in 2008. They add the stimulus in 2009, with Obama as President, to create the trillion dollar stimulus. I did not get to watch the debate, so I don’t know if Romney called him on that.
Also, Iraq was a small portion of the trillion dollar deficit. We are out of Iraq and still looking at a trillion dollar deficit this year. It’s the crappy economy and bunch of other things we are spending too much money on.
Look for a new Executive Order later this week banning Presidential Debates in the future.
I give Barry credit though, for a narcissist to have to stand there for 90 minutes and share the spotlight, let alone be berated for that same amount of time without having a hissy-fit, hair pulling, breath holding on the floor stamping his feet tantrum took a lot of restraint (or Xanax).
Obama did show uncharacteristic restraint but he still couldn’t control his glares and frowns. I took great pleasure in seeing our execrable Pretender-in-Chief discomfited. Victor Davis Hansen wrote a great essay about Nemesis, the goddess who deals divine retribution to those guilty of excessive pride and undeserved good fortune. Last night, thanks to Romney, Obama came face-to-face with this severe goddess for the first time in his life and he didn’t like it one bit.
Outstanding!!
And when he’s backed into a corner and humiliated in front of 70 million people, it scares me to think what he might do next.
If ONLY we needed someone to organize a sit in at a non organic farmers market.
THAT would be something that the President could handle.
It’s fun – and instructive in a way – to go to read what Huffpo and Kos are posting.
When you go to the HufPo click on the top ad about how Romney is not for the middle class. I repeats the lie of Romney’s plan for tax cuts for the rich and tax increases for the middle class. I love it!
I noticed one thing last night that no one has mentioned yet—O actually had to show up for work & stick around! That’s the most ‘work’ we’ve gotten out of him in 4 years! Also, is Trump really a small-business man? I think not.
Amen. It ain’t that he’s selling too little, it’s that noone wants what he’s sellin’.
Give Obumbles a break,
he was trying to think & speak from a 5,000 foot altitude,
after having come down from The Mountain Top in Denver Colo,
that kind of elation can cause placation.
Any of you smart@sses ever step out of an airplane at 5,000 feet?
It can really cause distractions.
In Thin Air Tonight
I can feel it coming in thin air tonight, oh Lord
We are the ones we’ve been waiting for this moment for all our life, oh Lord
Can you feel it coming in thin air tonight, oh Lord, oh Lord
Well if you told me you were drowning in debt, I would not lend a hand
I’ve seen your faces before my friends, but you don’t have a clue to know who I am
Well you were there and you saw what I did, you saw it with your own two eyes
So you can wipe off that grin, you don’t know where I’ve been
It’s all been a pack of lies
And can you feel it fading in thin air tonight, oh Lord
The ones we’ve been waiting for this moment for all our life, oh Lord
Can you feel it fading in thin air tonight, oh Lord
Well have you been waiting for this moment for all your life, oh Lord, oh Lord
Well I remember, I remember, 2008, how could I ever forget
It’s the first time, the last time we ever met
But I know the reason why you keep your silence up, oh no you don’t fool me
Well the jobs never show, but the debt still grows
It’s Solyndra for you and me
Can you feel it fading in thin air tonight, oh Lord
Well have you been waiting for this moment for all your life, oh Lord
No matter what the Media said, the scheme is now dead
We stole the keys to our paradise
We had a terrible thirst, you put the race-baiters first
It’s all been a pack of lies
We can feel it fading in thin air tonight, did you boo Lord
The states didn’t heal, the seas didn’t rise
You can wipe off that smirk, you arrogant jerk
It’s all been a pack of lies.
We can feel it fading in thin air tonight.
“It’s Solyndra for you and me”…ba-da ba-da ba-da ba-da bum bum…
LOL This is epic.
cfbleachers as usual your comments are a breath of fresh air. You are outstanding!
obama isn’t even aware that a real world exists.
The world he lives in is the world of Oz inside his head.
Don’t underestimate the man for the next debate, in this sense–he may be lazy, but he’s not dumb. He’s going to figure out that if he has a lousy performance again, he cements a reputation as having been graded on a curve for the longest time.
That should be sufficient motivation for anyone to gave the best performance of their lives. Without having undue self-regard. If Obama still has this idea that he is just more intellectually-gifted than Romney, a true savant versus a mere bright guy–then he is going to have a snarling motivation to do well. And so he might do well.
You fight that by remembering it’s battleship v. battleship.
The difference is that only one battleship has real guns.
And even if the USS Obama had guns, this ship has no ammunition—and Obama couldn’t shoot straight anyway.
Any way you look at it, Obama’s in big trouble—empty suit or empty gun: take your pick.
Chickens. Eggs. Counts.
On Obama’s “war to debt/work” tweet–well, he’s done everything else with how he spends our money, probably not a bad idea to try what he proposes for a change.
Anynon said: “On Obama’s “war to debt/work” tweet–well, he’s done everything else with how he spends our money, probably not a bad idea to try what he proposes for a change.”
We can’t afford samples and non-returnables! Actually, we have gotten along very well the past four years NOT having a real leader and government. I’m proud of my countrymen, and women, for their patience during very trying times. We show the world we do not need constant management and can live peacefully with our neighbors.
Obama economics: He take all the cows for taxes and tells us to buy the bull and start a dairy.

I remember sometime back around 2002 being very taken by this perspective that Republicans ideas were objectively “right” and Democratic ideas were “wrong,” and not only did Republicans know this but so did most Democrats, they weren’t ignorant they were just defending the indefensible out of personal pride or some professional obligation.
That was before no Weapons of Mass Destruction were found, before the chaos of post-war Iraq, before Katrina, before the continued deindustrialization of America during the years of recovery under Bush, before the Bush-led immigration bill of 2006 (with the full support of Wall Street Journal and the various neocon rags). Before a lot of things.
Social democratic ideas may not be entirely workable in an aging, deindustrializing, overly diverse, disunited and dumbed down nation such as ours. But neither is the warmed-over objectivism, vulture capitalism, and thw “invade the 3rd world, invite its peoples to America” mentality of the neocons.
I’m voting for Obama.
No, you’re voting FOR for failure and the end of America.
That’s what he said. Pay attention!
WMDs? Oh, do you mean those WMDs that every intelligence agency in the West was convinced he had? The WMDs that (we now know) Hussein was deliberately pretending to have so that Iran wouldn’t attack him? [Side note. Hmmm, why wasn't that info trumpeted on the nightly news? It's obviously something that any honest American would want to know. Oh, wait...]
Do you mean those WMDs?
And Katrina? You mean that hurricane that hit the place where a Democrat Governor and Democrat Mayor refused to order evacuation (until it was too late), even when the President took the unusual step of calling them personally to beg them to do so when it could have made a huge difference? Do you mean the Katrina that flooded out the buses that could have been used to evacuate people but instead were flooded into expensive oblivion because a Democrat Mayor was a slobbering idiot? Do you mean the Katrina that caused a disaster which was exacerbated because the Democrat Governor wouldn’t allow FEMA to come in when they wanted to? Do you mean the Katrina that caused a disaster that didn’t have to happen but DID because two DEMOCRATS who had the legal authority to act did NOT, and then blamed the President who had tried to get them to act in a timely manner?
Do you mean that Katrina?
You are correct. They don’t work here.
Or anywhere else.
And you’re right, neither does RINOism (And Romney is certainly a RINO), but it’s much less destructive than socialism.
When you are fighting a war, victory is preferred, but when you can’t have that, sometimes you have to settle for slowing the enemy’s advance.
Socialism is the enemy, and Barack Obama is socialism.
Well said.
You do know that Mitt Romney visited New Orleans after Isaac hit before President Obama got there?
You just reminded me of something………… those never found WMDs which all the intelligence agencies and which M-5 still says the intel on them was true. Didn’t I see something in a video clip after the disaster in Benghazi about dangerous chemicals there? I do remember the satellite pix of convoys of trucks leaving Baghdad for Syria before our forces reached Baghdad. Most times there would be no dangerous chemicals in the vicinity of a house serving as a consulate.
What’s really appetizing is what wasn’t discussed yet.
Obama walked in to $500 billion in annual debt and turned it into $1,500 billion annual in debt in nine months.
The minute that shiftless duffer brings up infrastructure, I’d remind the nation we had a trillion dollars to spend on infrastructure and instead we chose to burn most of a “stimulus” on parts unknown with Obama’s campaign bundlers – Obamastash.
American hasn’t had a budget in almost four years. The next Obama mentions “budget”, I would enlighten America of that fact too. Romney missed that opportunity last night.
Wait until Joe Biden starts blustering about GM is alive, and Paul Ryan reminds American citizens and it only cost them $30 billion to do so, while screwing GM bondholders in the process and receiving interest free loans to boot – monies that most likely will never been returned to the taxpayer.
Then we got a market labor force participation rate at historic lows, proving without a shadow of a doubt we haven’t added jobs for $6 trillion in debt. In addition, with middle class income dropping 8.1% over Obama’s four year term, what has been created are low wage scale jobs.
Drawing us out of Iraq, a war Obama had nothing to do with winning and basically followed the Bush timetable, were still facing trillion plus dollar deficits. Break that down to the average family and you’ll quickly determine that’s another $15-20K for a family of four they now owe thanks to The One and his Crony Senate.
Then we can begin to discuss Obama’s “new economic plan”, best I can tell half of a failed stimulus that didn’t work the first time, reminding America we could take all the millionaires and billionaires in America at substantially higher rates and it won’t scratch the deficit.
These are just off the top of my head.
And foreign policy? My mouth waters? GITMO, Libya, Iranian fissile material, “Obama, Obama, we’re all Osama now!”
That amazes me too. The disussion should start with a budget of 2.5 trillion federal budget, not 3.5 trillion. The 1 trillion the marxists ladeled on should be poofed before any dialogue begins about spending.
And btw, that 1 trillion gets ADDED to gdp, which is the only reason gdp is 1.5% instead of -5%. Sure, the “rules” are that it gets counted in “domestic production”, but every frigging dime of it is borrowed from future generations and added to the national debt. Eventually, it will have to be paid back, either through debt payments or worse, through inflation. obama’s magic bean money is the biggest national tragedy of all.
“Incoherent”? Someone needs to get himself a dictionary. Despite what you may think, words actually do have meaning, and I didn’t witness that either of the candidates were “incoherent” last night.
However, I did see Romney flip-flopping around like a fish out of water last night trying to please everybody. He was for covering pre-existing conditions before he was against covering them. He was for abortion before he was against it. He was for RomneyCare before he was against ObamaCare, even though some days he says he will keep all the good stuff in the law. He was for tax cuts for the wealthy until he was against them. He was against hiring more teachers, but apparently now he is for it.
It’s hard to trust a candidate who will say literally ANYTHING to get elected. Can someone please tell me one issue on which Romney has been consistent? I’m struggling here.
Incoherent — 1. Lacking cohesion, connection, or harmony; not coherent:.
You’re welcome.
Absolutely. Romney correctly stating at the very first Republican debate that any of the ten candidates standing on stage would be infinitely more qualified to be POTUS than Barack Obama.
MORE SOLYNDRA!
Please cite any of your statements that you have alleged Mitt has said and what he stands for.
If not, then go troll somewhere else. Tool!
“‘Incoherent’? Someone needs to get himself a dictionary.”
Actually, you are the one who needs a dictionary. Your criticism of Romney is valid as regards to flip-flopping and trust, but Romney was coherent. He could be understood. He was clear and concise. You are confusing incoherent with inconsistent.
Obama simply could not make a case, and even the Leftist Media had to admit that. He was truly incoherent. He is also known to flip-flop totally… all the time.
Steve, there IS one issue on which Mitt Romney has not wavered, even when he had to know it would cost him votes:
He’s been an ardent promoter of the homosexual agenda. On that, he has not flinched.
You mean as compared to a president who not only doesn’t know what he’s talking about and constantly lies? Even the new 7.8% unemployment numbers are just juggled around until they come out right. Surprise! Surprise! Just in time for the election!
When someone that can really debate (sorry Sen. McCain but you never did qualify) the ideals of what this country stands for – and can point out the folly of the progressive left this is what happens. Obama’s ideas come off as half baked because that is exactly what they are – half baked.
The ‘real’ consequences of (over)taxing the rich is higher unemployment. In all my life I never got a job from a poor guy.
The ‘real’ consequences of picking the winners (and losers) in energy production is like throwing money down a rat-hole. Tell me once more – how many millions did Solyndra cost us?
The ‘real’ consequences of over burdening business with regulations that have little to do with actual problems are rising prices (see oil industry – esp. the Gulf of Mexico).
The ‘real’ consequences of picking banks ‘too big to fail’ are that those same banks can roll the dice – what the hell – its taxpayer money their gambling with not their own and not the shareholder’s money. Smaller banks are failing at an alarming rate as a ‘consequence’. Frank-Dodd – thank you very much.
The ‘real’ consequences of paying off your public sector unions and calling it a ‘stimulus’ is you have no excuses left for why there are no jobs. Really – where DID that money go?
The ‘real’ consequences of – well I could go on for hours in this vein of thought but to what end? The ‘real’ consequences of Obama with his wonderful ideas (progressivism vs conservatism) was shown in stark and ugly contrast by Mitt Romney last night – now all we need is a sane and sober electorate to understand what it was they really saw. A failure with an almost 4 year record of failure. The worst president ever? I think so…
If we only send our Rolexes to the Wohn’s campaign so that He pawn them in Vegas, life would be perfect.
Everything comes from somewhere and it costs energy to get it. Basic economics, basic physics.
I’m wondering — once again — if Obama has some form of disability regarding numbers (is he number blind? Can he do simple math? Does he understand larger numbers versus smaller numbers? or are numbers for him without meaning?) There’s something very much wrong with him.
We saw the real Barack Obama last night. he is an idiot. Eastwood’s reference to an empty chair was far too kind.
Anybody else notice that the Liar’s voice was about a register higher last night. In many of his witless wandering responses he sounded like an adolescent who can’t stop talking too fast even though he doesn’t have anything to say.
It was quite a contrast to what I’ve always maintained has been one of the secrets of his “success”…the slow sonorous baritone that gives him (to some tastes) the air of a deep thinker.
Part of the problem was probably due to the fact that he quickly realized he was in over his head without the affirmative action teleprompter, and because, after 5 years, he was facing somebody who wasn’t going to make sure he would get an A+ for D- work.
But I also wonder if he hasn’t, at last, quit smoking.
He better start again, or it will cost him 5 million votes.
In all fairness (and I don’t have much in regard to the Usurper), I’m thinking that he has no idea (DUH!) that some people, somewhere, don’t necessarily think the Sun shines from his ass!
In fact, I don’t sense any ability to see reality at all.
Boy! Was he educated last night!
I never thought he’d have the nerve to debate Romney. I thought he’d weasel out.
Now, do we all see just how stupid he is?
Let’s not leave out, “Because he’s just an idiot pawn for the commies”, who never, ever should have been put in the White House, and wouldn’t even make dogcatcher, if he weren’t trying to be Black, a protected species.
What were they expecting?
They forgot the “idiot” part.
That’s what happened last night.
Did Washington wind down the Rev. War at Yorktown? Did Jackson wind down the War of 1812 at New Orleans (OK it was already over. He never got the memo). Did Sam Houston Wind down the War of Texas Independence at San Jacinto? Civil War at Appamatox? WWI on 11-11-18? WWII on VE Dsy or VJ day? Even Korea and Vietnam did not wind down. Fell apart but not wind down. Iraq we sealed up tight and in both Iraq and Afghanistan we had elections but the shooting never stops not even in Chicago. So I don’t get this winding down thing. Once the government is established and elections are held the war is over. Just cuz bad guys have guns does not a war make. The enemy army has to be in the field beyond a front we cannot penetrate or will not allow ourselves to penetrate. Since 1945 there is no spot our troops cannot penetrate but for the will to send them. So I don’t get the winding down thing. Obama spent more on drones and foreign aid probably than Bush did so who is fooling who. Cutting and running? OK, that I might buy. Saving money on bullets at the embassies to use on gunwalking schemes for drug cartels. I guess you would call that Chicago priorities. It might be carved still in the Capone-Nitti-Ayers Manual for any interested party to find down to this day.
And that’s why he shouldn’t EVER have been President.
Somewhere, Albert Shanker is smiling.
(Yes. I DO blame schoolteachers. If they were good at it, they wouldn’t need a scummy union.)
Distill it all down, and it’s clear that Barack Obama simply doesn’t understand how the real world works. That’s why he’s a lousy debater.
He’s also a lousy debater because he doesn’t know enough to look up and smile.
Frankly, you’d think a community organizer would know more of that stuff.
Much less an incumbent POTUS.
The bottom line is that it is clearly a myth Barack Obama is highly intelligent. I never believed that for a minute. Not one.
Poorly read and shallow, Obama is a mouthpiece of trite and platitude, with a gift of delivery reading from a teleprompter. He caters to the lowest common denominator of insipid celebrity.
That may sell in Berkeley, or San Fran, or Boston, or L.A., or West Central Park. It doesn’t sell too many other places when the curtain is pulled.
“Upper West Side” is the technical term. I only correct you because my mother grew up there, on West 84th near the park.
Yeah, his ideas stink, but Obama is also just not that bright. He’s used to others doing his work for him. He spent his first term at *playing* President. The just doesn’t know anything, and he made that perfectly clear last night. Without TOTUS, he truly is just an empty suit draped across a vacant chair.
Some commentators predict that Obama will suck it up and regain some ground on the campaign trail and in the remaining two debates, but I don’t think so. He humiliated himself last night. He’ll never get over it. I think it will drive him to speak ever more extemporaneously, and we all know how that will turn out. What we saw last night was the beginning of the Great Obama Meltdown. His true weirdness is about to emerge into full bloom.
Oh, that would be wonderful!
I have to think he’s a got few handlers who will try to prevent it, unless they are so lost in worship and “blame everyone else” mode that they can’t see reality.
Of course, THAT is a real possibility.
Well said. Exactly what I have been saying. If he has o many great then why did he not submit any to.congress in last 4 years?
NO WONDER, MITT WON THE DEBATE. HE CHEATED.
He actually prepared for it.
I KNOW WHY OBAMA LOST THE DEBATE
From the sourpuss look on his face, I’d guess that Obama had a poker up his ass.
NO PINOCCHIOS. JUST RED EARS.
Am I the only one who heard multi-millionaire Obama say that w/o student loans “Michelle and I couldn’t pay for our daughters’ education”.
OBAMA’S BEST CHANCE TO WIN THE ELECTION:
Don’t show up for any more debates.
GIVE THIS GUY A SECOND NOBEL PEACE PRIZE.
I mean, seriously, did you see the way he didn’t put up a fight.
The idea never was to pay down the debt. The idea has always been to do what the Europeans did after WWII – use defense spending on social programs. Europe had the muscle of the US to defend it from the USSR over the course of the cold war, and to this day couldn’t defend itself against any kind of attack. I noted a remark that it’s unlikely that the Brits could even pull off a defense of the Falklands like they did in the 80s if Argentina actually made an effort to “liberate” them. Whose backing do we have as we gut the military to give out free Obama phones? The Chinese?
The next debate is between Joe Biden and Paul Ryan.
The following two debates, originally scheduled to be between president Obama and Mitt Romney will instead have Valerie Jarrett or George Soros standing in for the president.
Now THAT is a debate I would like to see, George Soros vs Mitt Romney. Soros is one of the Technocracy puppeteers pulling Obama’s strings, grooming him for the New World Order and One World Government.
“#1099-GOV”=Fairness x (labor/2) This defines a rational framework to mathematically discuss entitlements if you have to have them. We do. First: report all money given to people with the 1099-GOV because sweating as a wage slave earns you W2s or maybe 1099-MISC. Second: The absolute limit, IMHO, for American is to take half a man’s wages (ie. labor/2). Play around with this and understand that if the government gives $300/month in foodstamps you should be able to take taxFree $600 for your family. This is assuming that Fairness=1. Of course, that’s probably not reasonable because demorats demand more than fair.
“Distill it all down, and it’s clear that Barack Obama simply doesn’t understand how the real world works. That’s why he’s a lousy debater.”
I disagree. He understands it. He’s not stupid. He just doesn’t like it and wants Americas to be “fundamentally transformed”
It’s past time to fire this clown.
During the discussion I heard many “…we have to do this and we have to do that..” and Romney failed to respond ” …so why didn’t you do it?
Obama was talking like he is running for office the first time and Romney is the incumbent.
Obama said: “The oil industry gets $4 billion a year in corporate welfare. Basically, they get deductions that those small businesses that Governor Romney refers to, they don’t get.”
He forgot to mention that, whatever the oil industry got he doesn’t like, they got from him, the last four years, and he really never did anything about it.
Leftism’s manipulated language fears sharp-pointed facts.
Military spending is not profit/loss stuff. It is an insurance policy.
The cost of winning a military conflict is fixed. The first part is having military capacity in machines and personnel on hand. The second part is the extra price in blood and bodies thrown into the conflict when the first part is not large enough. The 20th Century has chapter and verse on this and some still don’t get it.
Turning military expenditure into a cash machine for other programs just raises the cost you must pay in blood and bodies.
“obama” mentioned a terrible tax subsidy for oil companies….
Why, pray tell, didn’t he and his congressional majorities repeal the subsidies when they had the chance?
His leadership stinks too.
P.S.
