The motley crew of communists, criminals and creeps who use the meaningless label “Occupy Oakland” to somehow justify their violence rioted again today for the umpteenth time. In the middle of the melée, self-styled Occupy Oakland spokesperson and former Weather Underground revolutionary Roxanne Dunbar-Ortiz gave a speech enunciating the Occupy movement’s new ethos:
The first speaker, Roxanne Dunbar Ortiz, took perhaps the most pointed stance, urging the crowd to fight the rich.
“Passionate, organized hatred is the element missing in all that we do to try to change the world,” said Ortiz, a retired professor from Cal State East Bay. “Now is the time to spread hate, hatred for the rich.”
Any further questions?

Well, not really…
I talked with a former Oakland police officer about two weeks ago and he said that there are many on the force that have left or are considering leaving above the layoffs. There is little if any support from the mayor of Oakland for law and order and the police force morale is low as a result. This particular officer is now in the San Jose area as a local security administrator for a nation wide retail store chain. Welcome to “Bartertown” ala Mad Max.

I have lived in San Francisco since 1970, had nothing but positive interactions with the SFPD, and have greatly admired their patience, restraint and, for lack of a more appropriate term, decency when I’ve seen them dealing with the irrational running amuck.

I’m surprised you’d even give a mention to this idiotic women. Her grasp of history is loose at best and with a one-sided agenda she considers balanced. Listening to her speak is listening to her ramble on in disjointed segments, half of which are little straw man arguments about how we don’t know this or that which in fact are common knowledge. She acts like the Marines in Haiti so long ago is a state secret and wants the usual panoply of events to take place such as freeing Leonard Peltier and abolishing Columbus Day. She thinks America is the most militarized nation in history.
This idiotic woman needs to be mentioned. She needs to be shouted from the rooftops so that Americans can see the truth about obama’s minions. The Occupiers ARE obama’s army that he’s unleashed to wage war against us. We need to get the truth out about these people. They would much prefer that we ignore them, but we do so at our peril.
It should also be highlighted that this woman is a former Weather Underground member who is a retired UNIVERSITY professor. Why was she in charge of indoctrinating our kids, instead of serving time in jail for her former membership in a terrorist organization?
This “idiotic woman” is none-the-less representative of the core constituency of the Democrat party.
This is who California hired to help educate our young.
History is pretty much a clash between the civilized and the barbarians. Those that build things and those that tear them down. Civilizations that give in to barbarians rarely survive.
On the other hand, they actually do have a good point – why is it that there are so many poor that are homeless and there are all these empty buildings and homes? Stuff like that is why you start having home grown barbarians. Violence is the great equalizer between the poor and the rich. When they have nothing and see people with several of everything, it’s hard not to get angry.
Why do we spend so much on foreign aid when we have so many needy at home? And why do we create so many poor by heavy taxation especially on the middle class?
Especially when you can just look up at Canada, who does do a better job of those things. We put 600% more of our people in jail (per capita) than they do, yet somehow they haven’t turned into Somalia
Canada doesn’t have a homegrown gangsta culture that put themselves in jail 7 times as much as white folks according to the DOJ. Of course one side see this as The New Jim Crow, white privilege, Racism 2.0, The New Confederacy and Colorblind Racism with dog whistles and code.
The other side sees it as a moronic subculture with the value system worse than the Third World.
As for foreign aid, try telling OWS you’re going to stop aid to Africa and illegal aliens. They have no brains or consistent philosophy and don’t realize they are their own worst enemies. How do you cure or explain stupid? Well, on the politically correct Left, they simply don’t admit there is such a thing.
Everyone’s equal and the difference in success is the exploiter and the exploited. This make Haitians unlucky rocket scientists and Li’l Wayne the unfortunate Charlotte Bronte.

How true this is. In recent months, I’d developed a brief taste for the cable show, Gangland, which is very edifying. It’s one thing to hear how huge swaths of people revel in the depraved Gangsta culture, but actually seeing it is quite another. “Moronic Third-World Subculture” for certain.
There are empty buildings and homes because someone built them hoping to rent or sell them and thereby make a profit. They are empty because the people who built/own them guessed wrong; either nobody wanted to live there, the owner wants too much money, people lost jobs and can no longer afford rent, mortgage payments, etc. But “the poor who are homeless” have nothing to do with these empty buildings; they are homeless largely because they are jobless and therefore have no money to spend on rent, so live on the public dole. Or they are the deinstitutionalized insane, or substance abusers.
We spend money on foreign aid partially to buy allies and partly to placate various domestic constituencies.
I don’t know how you think taxes “create poor,” given that taxes decrease with lowered income and the actual poor not only do not pay taxes, but receive tax money paid in by others.
Wrong. They are empty because the Bay Area’s horrifying rent control laws have scared off the vast majority of potential landlords.
When I was living in SF my landlord told me that the last people who lived in the apartment before killed his dog (on purpose, because it was barking) and he was unable to evict them.
I was unaware that the Bay Area’s rent control laws had been enacted nationwide and thus apply to all of the empty real estate scattered across the country. Or perhaps you are treating us to a mirror-image, West Coast version of that famed New Yorker cover which showed the foreshortened, navel-gazing New York worldview.

Well, perhaps the spread the hate is working. Not the hate of the rich but the hate of over-privileged pseudo-intellectuals who spout off. No one got free speech on their own. They benefitted from the blood and sacrifice of the rest of us on the fields of battle and the willingness to tolerate that which makes our blood boil. So it is time for them to give back, to contribute to the freedoms we enjoy. Many as this woman are useless and of no value but the young can join the Army and fight, fight for freedom and democracy. Fight to give others the freedom of speech they so blatantly abuse. They should not be like their draft dodging, cowardly daddies or their terrorist mommies and professors. It is time to give back.
I was thinking about the contradiction earlier. They love, love, love humanity, yet the things humanity has produced are never good enough for them. Humanity always lets them down. Hence, they actually hate humanity. They hate the rich and powerful for causing all our problems. They hate the poor and powerless for not acting in their own “class interests.” Nobody can do anything right. This leaves the OWS types extremely frustrated.
I think it’s extremely important to remember that Marxism and its various flavors is essentially a Romantic movement. It claims to be materialistic and scientific, to diagnose the world’s ills objectively and provide objective cures. But ultimately, it’s based on emotion. The icons of Marxism do not feature nerdy men in glasses analyzing reams of statistics or chubby politicians making difficult decisions. Rather, they usually consist of muscular men and women striking heroic poses on top of barricades, their eyes blazing with passion, their mouths shouting calls to action, their hands grasping the Red Banner as they lead the ignorant masses toward the ideal future. Every Roxanne Dunbar-Ortiz wants to be one of those iconic heroes, not whatever little person they happen to be in real life. It’s the act, not the result, that attracts them. The OWS have said as much.

I’ve never rolled a bocce ball. Maybe if I could find John Madden’s guys I could watch them and pick up pointers. I’ve gotta admit though it looks about as exciting as curling or croquet.
