The PJ Tatler

Is the media CW already turning against Obama’s handling of the OBL raid?

If you’ve lost Mark Halperin, you’ve lost Mark Halperin. And maybe other conventional wisdom peddlers like him. Halperin, last seen praising President Obama for being “brilliant” on the 2011 budget by not releasing one at all, is out today with a list of five mistakes the Obama admin has made since announcing the death of bin Laden.

The list will seem familiar to readers here and anyone who doesn’t regularly partake of the Obama Kool-Aid: They didn’t get their story straight before going public; they let the photo debate get (and remain) out of control; they let the debates about Afghanistan and Pakistan get out of control; and Obama snubbed Bush by not acknowledging his contribution to getting Osama. That last one didn’t go unnoticed. Obama tried for a do-over and got rejected.

All of these mistakes are either fueling conspiracies, inflaming partisanship or irritating Americans who are already fed up with bending over to satisfy Islamic sensitivities while we pay with lives and billions of dollars to civilize a part of the world that seems uninterested in the prospect. I mean, I don’t know about you, but my first thought when I heard bin Laden had eaten lead was to hope it was at least halal.

I guess even the myth of “Obama The Media Wizard” turns out to be false. Looks like it was made up by a pre-self-manipulated and supine media, probably just to make their own jobs easier.

    • John Morrison

Hmmm, well, “self-maipulation” is probably what they spend the most time doing!

    • Cynic

The media is so into multilayered Photoshoping that they lost track of how deep they had gone.

It’s painfully obvious that all the professionals involved in this operation were in Pakistan.

The post op work is being done by a group of clowns.

I have to disagree, because clowns can be frightening. I go with “ninnies” as a better description.

It’s interesting that the media appear less interested in the actual killing of Osama than they are in the consequences of the White House’s PR bungles. The story is now the story. How postmodern…

That’s nothing. You should go to this site. I will say that I do not know how truthfull this is, but if there is any truth to this posting and it becomes known more than the media will turn against Obama.

Just goes to show you that depending on the media-ocrities for wisdom (conventional or any other kind) is like depending on Bozo the Clown for a somber eulogy.

I didn’t think it was possible turn finding and killing Bin Laden into a net political negative, yet somehow Obama did it.

I guess he is a miracle worker after all.

Amazing how incompetent this is. I can’t stand Obama as much as anyone else, but I’m willing to give him a pass since he got Bin Laden. Of course, everything afterwards spirals into the absurd. Incredibly, even the media is confused at what Barack’s cooking.

Everybody is lauding the Prez for his “courageous” decision. He DID make the right decision among the array of options presented him, and I agree with his decision not to show the pics (like rubbernecking a car accident). BHO is totally incompetent as a President. The succession of conflicting “leaks” and “announcements” just goes to show you he has never watched Fox Football Sunday. Now they know how to do a post-game wrap up. These “leaks” just prolong this thing.

Bin Laden is dead, hooray. Thanks, DOD and CIA! But tick-tock, it’s 5/6 and no budgets or cuts in sight. Let’s move on with the business of government!

The last sentence, “I mean, I don’t know about you, but my first thought when I heard bin Laden had eaten lead was to hope it was at least halal.” My first thought was to hope he had been wrapped in bacon and had a ham hung around his neck when he was buried.
