Gaza Continued: What Do We Do About the UN?

Word came Tuesday that now a third UNRWA school in Gaza was housing rockets for Hamas. (How the missiles were never noticed before was unclear — maybe they were stacked beneath the erasers and paper clips or hidden under student spitballs.) From the Jerusalem Post:

Christopher Gunness, spokesman for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency, did not name who was responsible for putting weapons in the school, but quickly criticized whoever was at fault.

Gunness added that a UN munitions expert was called in to dispose of the weapons, but could not get to the site due to fighting on the ground.

Further, Breitbart.com is reporting:

This week, UNRWA supplies and building materials had been found in Hamas’s tunnel infrastructure, which has been used to smuggle weapons and carry out attacks on the State of Israel.

How’d that get there? More of that pesky teenage pilfering when teacher turned his back? Or was it something a bit more intentional? No wonder The Algemeiner is asking: Are UN Agencies Fighting for Human Rights or Supporting Terrorism? It notes:

None of this is new and seemed only to be surprising to UNRWA itself. The group has a long-documented history of terrorist ties, something UNRWA’s former Commissioner General Peter Hansen openly admitted in 2004 to the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation stating, “I am sure that there are Hamas members on the UNRWA payroll … and I don’t see that as a crime.”

Mr. Hansen may not, but some of us may feel differently about a psychopathic terror organization on the UN payroll — a payroll which, by the way, is roughly 25 percent financed by the American public. ISIS has a right to complain. Why aren’t we financing them too? Aren’t they just as vicious as Hamas? Hamas may have murdered hundreds of their children building the terror tunnels, but hasn’t ISIS proved themselves by lopping off the heads of every Shiite they could find?

Never mind. Insanity rules and we’re all lying in the gutter.

Nevertheless, some time or other this war will end and the world will have to figure out what to do with what’s left of Gaza. The usual moral hypocrites, terrorist sympathizers and great humanitarians like Nancy Pelosi, who seems to think Hamas is a Levantine branch of the Salvation Army while mixing up Qatar with Denmark, will want to bring the UN back to pay its conventional “peacekeeping role.” That organization — whose real name should be the Fraternal Order for the Global Promotion of Anti-Semitism (FOGPAS) — would be better off — at least from the point of view of poetic justice — on the business end of an Israeli drone.

But failing that, they should be kept as far away as possible from the “peacekeeping role” anywhere in the world and, from we’ve learned in the past, any women between 12 and 64. The question is how.

I have been ridiculed by readers here for suggesting a congressional investigation. Everybody already knows how horrible the UN is, they say. The problem is those readers are wrong. Few know. Many Americans don’t even know who the vice president is. (Okay, maybe that shows good judgment.) But most people don’t like to be ripped off and we are all being ripped off by the UN — morally and financially. If this were made public — and one can only imagine what extraordinary UN treachery might be uncovered with a serious investigation of Gaza — there might be an outcry. Then again, there might not. But what else are we going to do? Sit back and let the UN collude yet again with another terror organization?

All of which is why these rockets are “suddenly” being discovered, for fear that Israel will uncover them first and embarrass the UN.

That's why American conservatives don't go far enough, all about the corruption and anti-Semitism of the UN as if it's such a shock. UN is bad to the bone, and the only thing that keeps the UN going is American money, taxpayers' money. Pull the plug, the only solution. Republicans don't dare go there, it's why they are as much a part of the problem as Democrats.

Only now you realize this? Wasn't it the UN that assured Israel that, if we only stop short of demolishing Hezbollah, they would see to it that no more missiles would be imported to Southern Lebanon. Anybody care to guess how many missiles are sitting there now, whose importation is almost surely with the active collusion of the UN "Peacekeepers."

The UN has steadily devolved from a marginally useful to a benignly inept to a thankfully ineffectual to a corruptly incompetent to an evil organization.

I think the UN General Assembly building would make _wonderful_ makeshift housing barracks for the current tidal wave of illegals otherwise, much better than some old warmongering US military base. After all, We are the World. We are the Children. Let's let the Children and World share the same roof.

Shouldn't more business be generated for bookies?

What odds would anyone give for any country to be the first to leave the UN? I say some are longer shots than others.

So, place your bets, folk, because doing the same thing over and over again is not getting anything done.

Roger, you already know, as we do, UN is corrupt. I don't know the history, but the League of Nations died. The UN needs to die. Why we are the biggest contributor to rapists and terror supporters, I can't understand. I've contacted my senators and representatives to voice my opinion to kill UN. All must do same otherwise nothing will happen.

I disagree. Moving the UN to Lagos Nigeria would put the problem in proper perspective and solve a good part of New York City's parking problem as the same time.

I agree that most Americans are ignorant and incurious. We have two generations of minds being formed by government schools and corporate pop culture to thank for it. This, I think, is the root of all of these messes. If everyone were paying attention we wouldn't be seeing weekly scandals in DC or funding that wretched thing called the UN. But we're too busy watching sitcoms to notice.

THE UN IS A THRIVING BUSINESS
Just like any terrorist group. Take away the money and it will disappear.

I like what Mark Steyn once said about the U.N. I think it was around 2006 re Israel and Hezbollah.

"ISIS has a right to complain. Why aren’t we financing them too? Aren’t they just as vicious as Hamas?"
Roger -- we love you -- but sometimes you can be so naive.

Yes, ISIS is killing Shiites and Christians ... so? Meh. When they start murdering Jews -- (or at least some Americans) ... that's when the U.N. and Europe will declare them "freedom fighters" and they'll start getting funding -- don't you know? They haven't "proved" themselves yet, that's all. It's coming -- just you wait.

The U.N. is a bunch of thieving thugs, and should be treated that way. They should be given "offers they can't refuse." They'll respond to that. It's all they know.

But I want to say something else here.

I keep listening to "Interviews" of Hamas and Hamas Lovers. They keep referring to their "Occupation" -- and the nonplussed interviewers just ask, but ... but ... but -- Israel left Gaza in 2005 and it's not occupied? Blockaded, yes, but not Occupied? And supplies are regularly sent in. To which they answer is "silence."

What is so clear that the "Interviewers" just don't get ... Hamas and Gazans are referring to the State of Israel -- THAT'S what they consider Occupied!! Jews are Occupying Israel -- THAT'S what they mean! That's what they are calling "Injustice!" They should be forced to say that clearly. Over and Over.

So that the stupid Leftists will "Get It!"

Most of the "stupid leftists" won't care. They see the annihilation of Israel as maybe a little morally uncomfortable, but in the long run so very... purifying. No more bad news from the middle east (except for Arabs killing Arabs, which interests them as much as yesteryear's snow). No more pesky Jews, except for some remnants that will quickly lose their unique identity and become more uniform citizens of the universal world order. A real catharsis.

The first time rockets were found in a UN school I would have declared this as proof that the UN is acting as a Hamas ally and henceforth UN personnel and facilities will treated no differently than Hamas personnel and facilities.

More Obama-isms, by Christopher Guinness: instead of directly naming those responsible he euphemistically calls for "all the warring parties" to respect the inviolability of UN property. As if somehow Israel might be the group stocking UNRWA with rockets.
