Islam Needs an Intervention

Sadly, not a viable option.

Bad luck for Iran’s new President Rouhani.  He arrives in New York just after the carnage in Kenya and Pakistan.

Of course these mass murdering terror attacks were perpetrated by Sunnis, not Iranian Shiites, but most of the American public doesn’t know the difference.  And those of us who do are only reminded these killings are just the latest in a long and sadly predictable history of such events, Sunni and Shiite, during which, according to one website, a staggering 21269 deadly attacks have been undertaken by Islamic terrorists since  September 11, 2001. (To give you an idea of how many deaths this comes to, the Mumbai mass killing of 2008 in which 164 died is only one of this over twenty-one thousand, as are the 2004 Atocha Station bombings in which 191 died. And 68 and 78 died, so far, in the Kenya and Pakistan attacks, also part of the over twenty-one thousand.)

So Barack Obama should be aware, if he is in the mood to appease an Islamic regime with multiple terrorist tentacles, that it might not be the best week for such an action. Too bad, Rouhani. (Or let’s hope it’s “Too bad, Rouhani,” whose “moderate” track record fits right in with the 21269 deadly attacks above, although his pre-dates 9/11.)

Indeed, like a badly failing family member — an alcoholic or a drug addict — what Islam desperately needs now is not nuclear appeasement or CAIR-style “tolerance” but an intervention.

To say that something is decidedly wrong in the Islamic world is a monumental understatement. And Muslim societies make almost no serious effort to correct themselves, ricocheting back and forth between military totalitarianism and religious totalitarianism while — like that family heroin addict — blaming everyone but themselves for their fate.

They are indeed in deep need of an intervention. The question is how to do it.

Of course, just by raising that question you are accused of Islamophobia, an absurd almost self-contradictory term, which always applies better to those using it. They are the ones who are phobic about Islam because they are the ones who are fearful (actually terrified) of what Islamic people will do if told the truth.  So they come up with those equally absurd lies, like defining the crime of a soldier who murders his fellows while shouting “Allahu Akhbar” as “workplace violence.”

This real Islamophobia has been the pathetic stance of our government and military since 9/11, made worse by the delusions of Barack Obama.  Of course it has failed.  How could it possibly succeed when it is fundamentally dishonest?

Meanwhile, another large sector of our society wants us to throw up our hands at the whole thing — let these madmen destroy each other.  I am sympathetic — how could I not be?  We have already lost so much in treasure, human and material.

But I will remind those people — and myself — that in our tradition we are our brother’s keeper.  And that is one of the most important values, if not the key value, that gave us this great country.

Furthermore, such a violent ideology left unchecked could destroy the world. It already infects over a billion Muslims, with painfully rare, though highly laudable, exceptions.  (The depressing truth is that I met almost all of them in my job at PJM. Where are the rest? Why is it there is no really organized attempt within Islam for any kind of serious reform — only the most momentary lip service after a terror attack?)

Obama has only one response to Islamic terror: it doesn't exist.

He holds that it's: 1) the work of extremists not jihadists; 2) workplace violence; 3) lone individuals, not real Muslims; 4) just something Bush caused, Blame him!

So, I expect Rouhani to get th glad-hand from Obama!

An "intervention" -- ? Surely you jest, Mr. Simon. Islam is wholly founded on precepts of violence and enslavement in the name of God. That's not a minor cognitive or perceptual error that can be cleansed from an otherwise organically sound entity. It's core rot. It demands complete extirpation, and given a few more provocations, that's what it will receive.

"Islam Needs an Intervention"

You may need an intervention; I may need an intervention; Islam needs to be utterly destroyed.

Mr. Simon, it appears that you do not know the truth about Islam. There is no help for Islam, it cannot be reformed; total destruction of Islam is the only answer. Nuke Mecca, and nuke Tehran. Do it today. Forcibly deport anyone claiming to be a Muslim, and any immigrants from Islamic countries. Do it today!

Not an intervention, because they do not want to reform. There will be no reformation until they are staring into the abyss. Even then, they may not reform.

We must defeat them. How do we do that without killing a billion people? We isolate them as far as possible. We buy their oil from them as necessary, but go full speed ahead developing all non-Muslim energy resources. As a previous commenter said, when the oil runs out they are finished. The only thing that makes terror attacks possible for them is the oil money. Run them out of oil and attack their financing nets wherever we can. Stop any migration to the West. No foreign aid. If they attack us, we hit them quickly and put maximum hurt on the countries the attackers came from. Outlaw sharia law and shut down any mosques where violent jihad is preached. The Western world is based on tolerance, trust, and free trade. Islam is totally incompatible with that. It has no place in the West unless it can reform, which I see no chance for.

Those Muslim countries without oil are economic basket cases. Look at Egypt. They can't even feed themselves. That will be the condition of all those Muslim dominated countries when the oil runs out.

Yes, it will take a long time. 25 years, maybe longer. Remember that's what we did with the USSR and China. Isolated them (actually they isolated themselves) and let them go broke. It took 40 years, but it worked.

Remember way back when Ann Couter suggested that the best way to deal with Islam, was to conquer all the Muslim lands, and forcibly convert them to Christianity. All "our betters" were horrified and lost no time in telling the world how "wrong" she was to even suggest that. Odd she doesn't seem so "wrong" now. Since the Muslims are so in love with jihad, I think it's time we held one in the opposite direction. Think of what would happen if they held a terrorist attack at a mall in Virginia, say outside of the Naval Base at Norfolk. Are you willing to bet on the discipline of a "boomer" crew that finds out the families have just been wiped out?

The recommendations in this article make sense. But I dont buy the we are the brothers keeper and we must intervene idea. We tried that in Iraq and Afganistan. It cost us immense blood and treasure, and they both ended up mostly hating us. Its not our job to civilize them, they must civilize themselves. I would use the concept of coventry. What it means is we place them outside the realm of civilization, and dont deal with them unless they attack us, no commerce, no foreign aid, no cultural contact. No immigration from their nation allowed unless the immigrants are willing to publically state that they renounce jihadist Islam, sharia law, and any other offensive traditions of that nation. And if they attack us, then we attack back twice as hard. If they ask why we do this, we reiterate the points in this article, and state we will deal with them only after they have reformed themselves and become a civilized people. Any individual muslims, or any Muslim nation, willing to recognize the evils of present day jihadist Islam and renounce them, and vowing to attack and jail any jihadists in their midst, and protect the rights of Christians, Jews, Women, and non-violent Muslim heritics as much as we do in the USA, we can deal with, all others are treated as barbarian kingdoms, outside the realm of civilization.

The prophet Elijah dared the priests of Baal (the moon god, btw) to a showdown.

1 Kings 18:27
At noon Elijah began to taunt them. “Shout louder!” he said. “Surely he is a god! Perhaps he is deep in thought, or busy, or traveling. Maybe he is sleeping and must be awakened.”

Actually, Elijah was saying, 'Maybe he's on the crapper, guys'.

36 At the time of sacrifice, the prophet Elijah stepped forward and prayed: “Lord, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Israel, let it be known today that you are God in Israel and that I am your servant and have done all these things at your command. 37 Answer me, Lord, answer me, so these people will know that you, Lord, are God, and that you are turning their hearts back again.”
38 Then the fire of the Lord fell and burned up the sacrifice, the wood, the stones and the soil, and also licked up the water in the trench.

Give 'em plenty of notice, and let the fire fall on the kaabah stone in mecca.
They just might get the hint.

But I will remind those people — and myself — that in our tradition we are our brother’s keeper.

Our brother's keeper or not, if the brother becomes unmanageable and a danger to himself and others, it's time to shut him away. I'm not one to advocate slaughtering a billion people, but the only way to get Islam to become part of the 21st century is to force ... no "encourage", that won't work ... but to force Muslims to accept civilized standards of behavior. Unfortunately, that entails pain.

Erase Mecca. Give them something to really whine about.

If I was Israel, I would publically announce that if the Muslims ever get close to success in driving Israel into the sea, Israels final act before their nation perishes will be to nuke the Kaaba.

Except for backsliders and atheists among them, Muslims are not my brothers and I am not their keepers. In fact, I am the 'son of monkeys and pigs' that many of them would like to see treated as Danny Pearl was, or the three guys beheaded in Waltham, MA 'allegedly' by the Tsarnaev brothers. And if you are a Christian like the firefighter in Toronto who was just murdered in Toronto within the past ten days or so - same story. This is not what brothers, or sisters, do to one another. I had two sisters, one is still with us, and though we don't see eye to eye on many things, neither of us is interested in beheading the other - no matter what. Muslims are not our brothers, they can't be treated with intervention, and the sooner you, Roger, drop the liberalism lurking beyond the self-applied 'right-winger' label, the more value you will provide all of us.
