Barracking Your Way to the Top
It is one of the curiosities of language that the transitive verb “barrack” (chiefly British, origin unknown) means to “shout or jeer at.” For that is precisely what our Barack, the one now occupying the White House, has descended to in his campaign against Mitt Romney. Shouting, jeering, name calling, and above all lying: “whatever it takes” to smear his political opponent and maintain his hold on the reins of power. It is, to use an adjective Romney himself employed recently, a disgusting performance. “Can a Candidate Lie His Way to the Presidency?” John Hinderaker asked recently at Powerline. The answer, alas, is Yes. But John offers this hopeful addendum: “a candidate likely can lie his way into office, but I doubt that an incumbent president can lie his way to re-election. For the first time in his life, apparently, Barack Obama has a record.” He won’t, in short, be able to seal up the records on his dismal performance these past several years the way he has managed to seal the records of his high school, college, and law school years, not to mention his years as a practicing attorney.
I recently wrote in this space that “Who Is Barack Obama?” was the question that won’t go away. A lot of people, me included, thought it appalling that Barack Obama’s utter lack of experience wasn’t more of an issue in 2008. Looking back on the election, however, even more extraordinary is the fact that the people of the United States elected a man to be president whom they knew almost nothing about. It wasn’t just Obama’s lack of experience that was at issue; it was the lack at the center of his being: we really had no idea where this fellow came from, who he was, what he stood for.
Well, some of us had a pretty good idea of what he stood for. He stood for the “fundamental” transformation of the United States of America — its devolution into a species of socialist dystopia. He stood, in short, for the Dependency Agenda, where the citizens are universally dependent on the government and its cadre of managers for all aspects of life.
Obama has dramatized that goal nicely in his three and a half years in office. And he won’t be able to seal it up or obscure it, though, as John Hinderaker notes, that won’t stop him from trying.
The Obama campaign’s current Bain Capital smear, which many media outlets have taken up, ranks with Quemoy, Matsu and Checkers as absurd campaign “issues.” But it is all that a flailing, out-of-ammo campaign has to offer.
That and a constant, hectoring effort to distract voters from his record by demonizing or barracking his opponents. It’s already past silly. Team Romney has been quick and effective about answering the charges. Already people are talking about the incredible shrinking Obama. By the time November rolls around, all he’ll have left is the sympathy vote. But while people will vote for someone they think is an underdog, not many will pull the lever for someone they think is a pathetic loser whose empty egalitarian rhetoric was merely a ploy to perpetuate his own power. Goodbye, Barack. Or rather, good riddance.

Death throes. His spasms can still do damage, though.
Man, you people really have to discard the tin foil hats and take a long look at reality. The neo-cons were not helpless victims here. They spent millions trying to dig up any bit of dirt possible on candidate Obama and failed miserably as Barrack Husein Obama was elected easily over the dottering old man and his looney Alaskan sidekick. As far as “aggressive” campaining goes, I didnt see any of you knuckleheads screaming foul when Lee Atwater used the scorched earth policy againt Dukakis, but now all you can muster is a bunch of whiney pouting when you percieve it coming back at you. Face it, the tea baggers have steered the car into the ditch as you are left with another un-electable mess because no one can get through the Republican primary without selling their soul to the far right devil. Now you have this hollow shell of a candidate that has flip-flopped on almost every issue in order to appear as Grover Norquist’s twisted version of a “conservative”. Good luck getting 51% of the vote with that guy. Obama sure aint perfect, but he is a man who has actually dealt with the problems that most Americans face, and not some ivory tower snob who doesnt understand why some may resent why he continues to get wealthier while paying next to no taxes, legally.
Romney may be a “hollow shell,” but Obama the economic ignoramus still makes him look good. You and your fellow delusionists will have to face a big reality in November: O is toast, with approval ratings almost universally below 50 except in the “loony left” states, and so is your death-seeking philosophy. Want to try to keep it alive? Move to France … or Cuba.
In your dreams, you bitter people. You just can’t take the fact that A BLACK MAN is in the White House. And he will be again, too.
Shirley, I’m thinkin’ you’re black…..
Dear Shirley,
I am white, and I have many great black friends. I hate what President Obama is trying to do to our country. Does that make me a racist? My opinion of his policies has nothing to do with his race – I welcome any capable black man or woman in the Oval Office anytime! Please stop playing the race card, painting all white people racist simply because we disagree with his policies.
Also, I am originally from Europe and know exactly what the society of dependence looks like. It makes people worse, and we can’t afford it anymore. America must not follow their example, if it desires to survive through the coming decades.
And what problems would they be?
Sucking off the public tit from the
time he was a child. Never having
a real job; getting into college
on affirmative action claiming he
was born in Kenya.
Ye gods, this man is a total fraud,
no skills, no talents–he is an
intellectual who is not intelligent.
Are you referring the same governor Dukakis who, when confronted with hypothetical rape and murder of his wife, coldly went on about the benefits of providing the convict with three hots and a cot for the rest of his life?
Or are you referring to the goofy tank ride in the Mickey Mouse helmet to look more “macho.”
Those are the two takeaways I got from his campaign. Neither of which were inflicted by the Republicans.
Mark, obviously you didn’t actually see Romney’s tax returns. You said he paid no taxes.I guess 20+million is no taxes to a crackpot liberal like yourself. This is a sign of desperation.Usually the commiecrats wait until a week before the election to pull out the trick bag.You know, repbs will take candy from babies, depends from grandma, school lunch from Trayvon. This is way too early to tell the BIG LIE.Three months is too much time. The Repubs will make this Thug pay for this mistake.Look at the polls, there has been no movement in the Thug’s direction.I am going to enjoy watching the Thug in Chief go down.
When you call all members of the Tea Party ,”teabaggers” you loose all credibility.
You reveal yourself as a syncopath for Obama and his left wing radical movement.
The only events worthy of consideration for the upcoming presidential election are Obama’s
Performance since elected. Every poll has him less than 50% satisfaction.
Most citizens are not convinced that he did the country a good service during his tenure.
And. O matter what the other side does, his behavior is poor and unbecoming of the President.
Starting with these: dottering old man, looney Alaskan sidekick, you knuckleheads, whiney, tea baggers (the term for a sexual act where a man places his testicles in another person’s mouth), far right devil, hollow shell of a candidate, and ivory tower snob.
Are you completely unable to get your point across without all of this elementary-age name calling? One reads a comment such as yours, then discards it as nothing more than childish, left-wing attacking points. You haven’t an argument to make so you resort to petty insults and character assassination. Actually, I love a good debate with the other side of any issue but you’ve proven you’re not worthy of one. Sad, really.
Yet you are not compelled to post anything in response to the vitriolic hate speech directed at the President every day on this site. Funny how you seem to be selectively offended…
You just cannot spin your story without resorting to name-calling can you? This tells me all I want to know about your truthfulness and intellectual capacity. You have little of either.
Mr. Schmitz: Is that cherry or lemon flavored kool-aid that you are drinking? Enjoy. The first Tuesday of November 2012 will come as quite a shock. I look “FOWARD” to it. The chickens will come home to roost.
In Portuguese slang, “barraca” means SNAFU. I don’t know why since barraca is a sort of tent, but “armar barraca” — “to set up tent” — means to cause a scandal usually by being utterly stupid.
I don’t often indulge in translating things back and forth, but these meanings seem, somehow, apropos or at least thought provoking.
For what it’s worth Portuguese seem to have nicknamed the president “Barraca Abana” — Shaking Tent — the day he got sworn in, if not before.
How odd. Democratic Party big tent?
Lest we forget the media complicity in supporting this fraud. The Times and the Washpo you capably and regularly tag but more than that it is the networks (NBC.CBS, ABC, CNN), but those behind the scene: Comcast, Brian Roberts and his Comcast family, GE, Jeffrey Immelt, yes, Jack Welch, all the leadership at NBC, our sacred comedians like Letterman and Leno and Stewart and, most assuredly, Maher who relegate the serious business of politics to a humor game.
Unfortunately, with the complicity of the media outlets you mentioned, Obama still clings to a stubborn lead in the presidential race. And thanks to the media and a Republican Party that has failed to defend the economic policies of George W. Bush (that produced prosperity and low unemployment in six of his eight years in office) a large majority of the American people believe that our current economic woes are the fault of Obama’s predecessor. It’s too late to do anything about it now — that time has passed. If a president can crow about a mammoth bill he got passed over the wishes of the American people and still be ahead in the polls is simply astonishing.
The nice thing is that in tearing at small business, both the NYT and WaPo are having to lay off employees in record numbers. Guess what? Their former customers were small business.
It’s referred to in the old adage as “biting the hand that feeds you.”
Australians use the word ‘barrack’ to mean supporting. They barrack for a football team, or they call out encouraging words whilst at a match. That is called barracking. One is asked ‘who do you barrack for’ when asked which team do your support.
You beat me to it.
Likewise in New Zealand.
Quite; and Americans visiting the antipodes need to avoid using the term “root”, instead of the intransitive “barrack”, since, as a transitive and intransitive verb, “root” is equivalent to “tup” or “swive”.
Your remarks would be a lot more educational if you had told us what “tup” and “swive” mean. I’ve never in my life heard either word, even while hanging out with Aussies and New Zealanders.
Tup and swive is what Barrack has done to our economy.
Hah!
If, as seems likely, Obama wins re-election, it will mean that democracy has failed in the US. We will then be saddled with illegitimate, lawless regimes forever, which will evolve into a full-blown socialist dictatorship.
Independent from a swing state here. Here’s what I don’t get. Conservatives explicitly complain about what another 4 years of Obama will do to this country and in their next breath complain that Romney is not conservative enough and threaten to stay home or write in a candidate to vote their “conscience”. So is it that conservatives really aren’t that concerned and just like to opine in dramatic fashion?
Voters on entitlements is nearing 50%. 4 more years of Obama will push that number so that those on entitlements will become the voting majority. Indeed, Obama’s waiving of welfare reform back to work requirements implemented by Clinton underscores that Obama is even trying to influence that number for this Nov, along with the “get-out-the-voter-fraud” DOJ battle against states trying to pass voter photo ID laws and clean up their voter logs.
If any conservative sits home or writes in a candidate they will be complicit in assuring an Obama win. After that, it won’t matter what conservatives or anyone thinks as those on entitlements will be the majority and will continue to vote to protect them. Conservatives’ and Independents’ voices will be silenced in the voting booth.
Thank you. Glad to hear I’m not alone in that view.
I tried to tell my nephew & his wife that (with their 3 kids who will be condemned to live much longer than they will under the results of another 4 years of oBummer), but they are “determined to stand by their conscience” and that won’t allow them to vote for a Mormon.
The depths of foolishness people can achieve never ceases to amaze me.
Why would a christian support Romney, a baby killer and gay marriage supporter? He has passed legislation in MA allowing gay people to get married and supported abortion. I encourage all christians to neither vote for Obama or Romney; write in the name of a real christian on the ballot. So that way, your conscience will be clear. I know that is what I will do.
Excellent points Maureen. I hope others are listening to you.
Obama is not “out of ammo” any more than Bernanke is. It is just that he has to use more extreme and unconventional measures. Advertising, rhetoric, and name calling only work to a certain point. The President’s ultimate weapons are to use the powers of office to win. Bernanke must help Obama because Bernanke wants to stay in power past 2013. I expect:
– Obama and Bernanke will announce the largest bailout in history in September or October. Every underwater mortgage in the USA will get bailed out or written down.
– Eric Holder keeps a grand jury in DC on standby to indict Romney on bogus tax evasion charges a week before the election.
– A NATO war in Syria will give Obama a welcome distraction.
– Bernanke pushes the S&P to new highs right before the election. No telling what happens afterward, though.
Imminent domain.
Actually, President Obama has already unleashed his next big weapon: He has unilaterally removed the “attempting to work” requirement for getting welfare. Because of the way the U3 is calculated, if people stop looking for work, they are removed from the calculation. He is going to drive the statistical number of unemployed down while forcing the actual numbers (the U6) up. Look for the “Unemployment is under 8%” message that will be blasted out of every media shill that Obama owns. It won’t matter to WaPo, HuffPo, NBC, MSDNC, Communist News Network (CNN), ABC, CBS, NYT, or the rest of that crowd that less people are actually working. The meme will be, “See, it is working!”
Oh, it’s working alright… We are in so much trouble.
The country will fracture before that happens. No doubt many of the States will opt for the dystopian future you describe, but not all.
Bob, Obama winning re-election??
Relax, ain’t gonna happen….
If Obama wins it doesn’t mean democracy has failed, it means “we” have failed democracy. Democracy doesn’t equal capitalism. If the majority of Americans are stupid enough to vote this socialist into office again knowing who he is then god help us all.
Historically when a country descended into chaos, people fled to the wilderness and later to America. Unless we start colonizing the moon there is nowhere left to hide from the cannibals.
If Obama wins re-election and attempts to push for a third term by changing the constitution.
And if he tries to consolidate power and become like any other despot dictator.
You will see a civil war just like Serbia. And yes you will see his loyalists fire on patriots and , teabaggers:, ( I hate that term).
But just like the Japanese underestimated Americans, so does Obama and his cronneys.
Their huburis and arrogance will be their ultimate downfall.
Cities will crash and burn but America will prevail and Obama will go down like his name sake.
This self-absorbed non-entity was always about what was behind him, not the person himself. He remains a most photogenic and politically acceptable two-dimensional facade for the “progressive” forces in the American shadows. He may go – and I hope he does – but the Gramscian momentum unleashed in your country shall, alas, continue unabated. Where goes the US, the rest of us must surely follow.
In Austrian “Barack” means big mouth loser.
Same thing in American English 0 wow!
Don’t know if this has shown up anywhere else….
http://obamalot.wordpress.com/2007/03/12/complete-copy-of-the-april-1990-issue-of-the-harvard-law-revue/
Just another look at who he is (or was)
So there is proof that he has been a narcissist since college.
Obama is a hogwash wrapped in a lie inside a fabrication.
Roger . . . Anyone who’s been in the military and lived in a barracks knows the jeering and joshing that goes on as everyone is settling in for the night or after lights out or anytime really. Someone becomes the butt of a nasty comment, he responds in kind, and then the jeering and name calling starts, as taunts and lies are thrown around willy-nilly, often with mocking fraternity, sometimes not. It could easily be that the term “barrack” took on the meaning of this kind of speech that is common among men living in barracks.
Like you, I was appalled when many of my friends voted for BO in 2008, even though they hadn’t a clue about his real background, character, or objectives. Unfortunately, I think many of them will do so again.
Keep up the good work, I like your columns . . . DSinger
Hope you’re right about his being on the way out. There are still a lot of condescending utopians clinging to their lawyers and mother earth though.
It’s amazing that Obama would engage in this latest “It’s impossible to know if Romney’s a Criminal” attack when Obama himself is so vulnerable in this very area. This will open the floodgates of:
“It’s impossible to know how Obama got that Connecticut social serial number”
“It’s impossible to know how Obama travelled to Pakistan at a time when the State Department prohibited travel by US citizens to Pakistan”
“It’s impossible to know what Obama’s grades at Columbia were”
“It’s impossible to know what Obama’s medical condition is”
etc.
Not only that, it puts the most important meme: “Obama Lies” squarely on the table.
I have no doubt the Romney team anticipated this tactic and has a plan in place for it and I eagerly await its unfolding. This could be the most entertaining week of the campaign yet.
Wonderful suggestion and comment.
Reminds me of Palin’s recent MI speech where she used the refrain, “don’t read too much into this” to great effect, a phrase, she points out, that’s been used by the WH no fewer than an astonishing 30 times in the last 40 months!!
http://www.snopes.com/politics/obama/birthers/ssn.asp
https://www.google.com/webhp?sourceid=chrome-instant&ie=UTF-8#hl=en&output=search&sclient=psy-ab&q=obama%20illegal%20travel%20pakistan&oq=&gs_l=&pbx=1&fp=d6725f746f57f9b6&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.r_cp.r_qf.,cf.osb&biw=1920&bih=955
So the SSN# and passport “issues” are both false. I’m not sure why the others are even relevant.
“A lot of people, me included, thought it appalling that Barack Obama’s utter lack of experience wasn’t more of an issue in 2008. Looking back on the election, however, even more extraordinary is the fact that the people of the United States elected a man to be president whom they knew almost nothing about. It wasn’t just Obama’s lack of experience that was at issue; it was the lack at the center of his being: we really had no idea where this fellow came from, who he was, what he stood for.”
In one of the greatest “I told you so” moments in recent history, all of us in 2008 who felt that Obama was an inexperienced socialist fraud who stood for nothing have finally been vindicated. Unfortunately, this far-left socialist has taken the whole country down with him. I’m just surprised that he’s still even doing as well in the polls as he is. Obama’s approval ratings should be in the low 30% range, not tied with Romney at around 46%. But there is still time for Romney to show the American people who Obama really is, nothing but a hack politician from Chicago willing to do anything to destroy his opponent.
The American people may be many things, but they are not stupid. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. I don’t think the American people want to feel ashamed in 2012. And by any objective measure, Obama has been a complete and utter failure. So I think Americans will make the right choice in 2012 and send this hack back to Chicago where he belongs.
I place most of the blame for his high poll numbers on traditional media. It would seem that far too many citizens still get most of their information from the networks and newspapers which are almost exclusively in the tank for Obama. It’s a measure of how dreadfully bad things are that they can no longer cover completely for how much damage has been done. And of course they still all cover with a straight face blatant falsehoods by administration spokespeople without challenge or dispute.
Were it not for Fox, talk radio, and the internet everyone would believe that the country was doing just fine and the hard times they saw around them was simply a local phenomenon.
I fear you over estimate the intelligence of the average voter. We have an example with FDR. He was elected to fix the economy. He was a failure from the very beginning. He was reelected how many times?
Team Romney has been quick and effective about answering the charges.
I’d get rid of the “I thinks” and just make declarative statements.
“I think it’s wrong. I think it stinks to high heaven. I think the administration has to explain how it is they would consider giving money to campaign contributors,” Romney said (today) on Fox.
One way to look at that: Romney is taking ownership of what he is saying by prefacing it with “I think….” This is one way to avoid an argument. Yes, it’s a cautious approach, perhaps even weak. But Romney strikes me a rather cautious fellow by nature.
Mitt (That’s the House, I’m Running for the Senate) Romney has always been Safe, Careful, and Measured in his campaigns.
“I think” is chisseled in stone for him.
When I heard obama utter the words “where I want to take this country” during the 2008 campaign, after my rage subsided, a chill ran up my spine. I knew then what a disaster for the country he would be. It is not the job of a President, or anyone else for that matter, to TAKE this country anywhere. I will never forgive the ignorant voters who gave us this narcissistic, lying, Marxist. Nor will I forgive McCain for abetting them by running the weakest campaign ever.
MUST read
THE AMATURE & THE SoURCE OF OBAMA’s RAGE
Both are excellent. Add to that: The Obama Error by Stephen Pidgeon.
Obama’s barracking, aided by world class amplification from Old Media allies has the possibility to create an overwhelming offense that will be his best defense. And what they omit about Obama’s record has the same effect as sealing them.
New media don’t yet have the mass exposure to reach nearly as many hearts and minds for Mitt’s defense. The critical successs factor IMO is that Mitt must articulate responses that force his perspective to be addressed through The Barracker’s Old Media outlets — relentlessly and compellingly.
In 7 of the 57 states “Barack” means braying donkey.
I would not underestmate what Obama aided and abetted by the MSM might pull off. That a narcistic sociopathic serial liar still earns popular support is a depressing commentary on the state of the electorate. His campaign boils down to buying off various grievance constituencies while smearing his opponont. The MSM does not have the balls to confront Obama on his dismal domestic record, his foolish and failed foreign policy, his empty posturing, vapid rhetoric, race-bating, and mendacity. The esteemed Fourth Estate has degenerated into a pack of howling hyenas.
Nicely put
I think we can ignore the polls about BHO’s performance or personal favorability. I suspect 10-20% of those who voted for him in 2008 will not publicly admit their current opinion; its simply fear of being thought a racist. However, what they will do in the privacy of the polling booth will be another matter. Anybody but Obama will take somewhere around 55-60% of the popular vote. BHO will be returning to sweet home Chicago come January.
“The race for the presidency is a liar’s contest and Barack Obama is the biggest liar.” John T. Reed
Oh to be a fly on the wall at the very moment Obama gets the word that We, The Great Unwashed, have whupped his scrawny behind.
I liken the look that’s bound to flicker across his face as akin to the one on Maajid Nawaz’s face when he lost the Intelligence Squared debate on the topic, “Is Islam a Religion of Peace?” to Ayann Hirsi Ali. Absolutely priceless! She vivisected him and never broke a sweat, looking for all the world like the physical embodiment of Pascal’s wondrous line, “Man is only a reed, but he is a thinking reed.”
His desperation’s been calling that look to mind for some time now. Not too hard to imagine what Michelle’s face will look like, either.
“Barry” in old English-Irish usually means spear. “Barry” was the given birth name. Commonly, when names are Islamicized, the name takes on a sound tecture. The given middle name, Hussein, is solid Islamic, which means to confront. Obama is a village name. The mixture is to confront a village with a spear. Tom Wolfe’s “Mau-mauing the flak catchers”, seems adequate as a tribal calling.
Good point, Barack Husseain Obama will not be able to seal and conseal his record as president; the 10%+ American out of work, still on UI claim, benefits exhausted, working at a lower paying job than they were pre-Obama, given up job searching, or finding “refuge” in disability are well aware!
To Conservatives, Obama shouted who he is; refusing to wear an American flag pin on his lapel; his statements denying American exceptionalism, his associations with radicals, his raising outside the UInited States all betrayed the real man.
Had we an honest, unbiased mainstream media, Obama could have been politically demolished and derailed by a few open questions.
Well, he’s had almost 4 years, and in his own words that if he “couldn’t turn the economy around, he’d be a one-term president”. Maybe it’s the one time Obama told the truth!
Let’s keep him honest!
they are both dolts. we’re screwed regardless of who gets elected. republicans, however, could do themselves (and the rest of us) some good if they thought about what might be useful to citizens of a country with a vacant hole where the middle class used to be. Instead, the republicans are constantly ballyhooing the most egregious meanness directed toward working people.
republicans won’t get the white house because the only voters who want the tea party in power are those in the tea party.
which means we will be stuck with the quasi-nobody-knows-for-sure who never met a fascist muslim he didn’t like or an israeli, he does. oh. goodie.
four more years in the BigMosque.
The MSM is ‘all in’ to get this buffoon reelected and help facilitate the further dismantling of our way of life. Will he leave office peacefully, or will he create the unbelievable chaos that we have to actually contemplate as possible from these radicals? I never in a million years would have believed it possible here in America, never. But with this crowd…..?
i don’t want the governments help. the Government can help me by getting out of my way,I think i can take care of my business better then anyone else. the way the government talks about rich white guys, only makes me want to be a rich white guy. our obfuscator in chief, wants to turn us into a Greek tragedy, it hasn’t turned out well for the Greeks. leave me alone i can still earn my keep.
I can only hope that one day each of my young adult children will say to themselves and to others,”My Dad used to say that Barack Obama was one of America’s most power hungry, grasping, lying, manipulative, dangerous, and mentally ill presidents.”
I further hope they will say, “And, thankfully, despite the Obama interlude, we still live in a republic.”
‘barracking’ – from ‘barking’ – as in ‘shout or jeer’; “Barracking moonbat!”
Long live the sceptered isle.
Where was Obama born?
Who is his father?
Where is the passport that he used to enter Pakistan?
Does he have have the orginial of his S.S. card? (I do and I’m older than Obama)
Why does his Selective Sevice application have a “80″ on the date stamp, when everyone else who registered in 1980 reads “1980″?
Why does his COLB have 4 different type fonts?
Why don’t the letters from one line on his COLB don’t line up with the letters on the line below?
How did he pay for college and Harvard Law School?
Transparency is a two way street.
Reportedly, Barack Obama Senior pronounced his name “Barrack”, as in soldier’s quarters, but Junior changed it to “Ba-ROCK”. I guess that sounded tougher and more ethnic to an insecure kid trying to escape his whiteness and puff his street cred.
Wow! I thought I was the only person alive who remembered Quemoy and Matsu. As I recall, it came up in two of the Nixon-Kennedy debates, and I felt ignorant (aged 19) for not understanding the significance of those islands. Also, I don’t think they were mentioned in the news again by JFK’s inauguration.
Why, if your President is clearly the embodiment of evil, a dedicated Marxist plotting the overthrow of the capitalist system, yet at the same time ineffective, inexperienced, etc, the worst President since records began, and so on and so on, is he ahead in the polls and has been so consistently for months?
I am impressed by the calm rational discussion in the previous comments. It is always important to debate important subjects with reasonable people. BUT it is sure a lot more fun to jeer and name-call! That’s what I like about this site – I can finally have fun making completely unsubstatiated claims. For example, I heard that if Romney wins, he will have to turn the White House into a Mormon Church! But if Obama wins, the White House will become either a mosque or a madrasa (or both). Now that’s a debate we ought to have At least we won’t be talking about boring stuff like facts
Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz……………..
Mitt Dukakis needs to learn to quit being a “girly-man” and fight!
The current strategy of the Dukakis(Romney) campaign: “thank you sir, may I have another?!”
This is amateur journalism at its best. That is why this noname author is writing for a noname company called PJ Media. There are fewer and fewer common sense reasonable Republicans. Its truly a shame. Instead we have these whackjobs that will say ANYTHING to knock down President Obama. Facts are not important to these types of Republicans. History doesn’t matter. When will the real Republicans stand up to these far-right nuts pretending to be Republicans. They have hijacked the GOP and hastened its irrelevancy as its platform moves farther and farther away from the mainstream.
Had this article not been linked to via RealClearPolitics I would never have seen this pile of garbage.
Your username says it all.
Seconded, almost word for word. They can’t realise that the Palinization of the Republican Party is the reason they lost last time and will probably lose this time.
Explain your strange, unverifiable way of thinking.
ProudOfObama, it is good that you stand by your man. But just because you hold a position that is contrary to others does not invalidate theirs. I often hear liberals, or Democrats if you prefer, claim that their position is the “mainstream” as if they have empirical data to validate the claim. The upcoming election will be the judge of that. You should also keep in mind that the lock that those of your political persuasion had on media is rapidly fading and a more diverse media is growing and people are flocking to it because suddenly they no longer feel alone. They have discovered voices that speak to what they perceive in the world. My sincere and friendly advise to you would be that you should not put too much of your emotional capital into this election, because should Obama loose, which I think is highly likely, the world still needs your voice in the opposition, even if it is rejected in November. Peace to you from Cowboy Bob of Wyoming.
Blind loyalty to Obama makes you look foolish.
In American English, “Barack” means “America-destroying, socialist narcissistic pig.”
Go Ron Paul.
Flush twice, voters. It’s a long way back to Chicago from DC.
No matter how many times Republicans use the word “desperate” to describe the Obama campaign it does not hide the fact the President is, at the moment, winning and Mr. Romney is in serious trouble. He has painted himself into a corner with his failure to release his tax returns. As even many conservative pundits have pointed out, it is becoming a heavy lose-lose issue with no signs of abating.
It is not the fact that Mr. Romney is wealthy that is his Achilles heal; it is his complete lack of a connection to most Americans. He does not have it with “sport”s, not with religion, not with his lifestyle, and not with his rather byzantine business dealings. Of course, wealthy men have become president, but they always found that common bond. A candidate could overcome this disconnection if he were seen as driven by principle, if he had deep core convictions that formed the underpinnings for his run. Again, Mr. Romney falls far short. Owing to his irresolute stands on almost every issue, voters across the political spectrum started out highly distrustful of Mr. Romney. Every day he manages to reinforce this perception. I’m sorry to have to tell it like it is, but wishful thinking does not win elections.
Sorry, you are very Wrong. Obama is getting 44-45% of the vote in the polls. Rasmussen who polls likely voters already has Obama down 47-44 and we know the challenger will get 80% of the undecideds. That’s why anybody who knows anything will tell you that an incumbent under 50% is in trouble. An incumbent under 45 is toast. This is looking like Reagan -Carter.
Romney may be all of those things. But I believe that he is a person who loves America and will not be corruptable in his pursuit to serve. He cannot be bought. He will not sell out. America will be better off with an honest average guy who got lucky and became rich than with an angry anarchist.
Well, when you don’t have a record that you can defend (or as in Obama’s case, a record that he wants voters to forget), your only alternative is to trash your opponent in the hope that voters will conclude that, as bad as your administration has been, the other guy would be even worse.
But my guess is that for a majority of voters, this won’t be enough in November. Once the Republicans have a chance to present Mitt Romney’s story to the nation during the Republican convention, people will very quickly see that, far from being the devil incarnate, he is a genuinely good and decent man who has been successful at everything he has ever attempted in his life and that he offers the country an alternative path from the road to national bankruptcy on which we now find ourselves.
For those of you who worry that President Obama might be reelected, ask yourselves, do you strongly want to see him ousted? And if so, is your desire motivated by fear of what will happen to this nation, to your future, and the future of your children if he is reelected? Do you find yourself sitting quietly and saying to yourself, “I don’t know how the people of this country don’t see what I see in President Obama and I am afraid they will foolishly reelect him!” The sycophants of liberalism will always deluded themselves to the inevitability of their position prevailing and the only way this is possible is by the so called purveyors of the news giving a slant that supports this deluded liberal viewpoint in such a way as to instill fear into the heart of the other side. And fear works against them. So have confidence because the country is full of fear and behind that fear is a person who is saying, “I don’t know how the people of this country don’t see what I see in President Obama and I am afraid they will foolishly reelect him!” Really the future looks bright for his ouster, and even if Romney is not the greatest choice that could have been made he is at least the better choice over Obama and he will have to be the one to fulfill Obama’s promise of “Hope and Change” because this country is in desperate need of hope, hope to overcome our fear but this hope requires change in the White House.
He’s out of message and out of cash…….it’s not happening.
But, I wonder why the media hasn’t made Bain, the Bane of Obama’s Campaign….After all , Bain’s Executives and Managers have made huge campaign donations in 2008 and again in 2011……I think that well has run dry, and the hypocrisy factor looms large. After all Obama could just as easily be accused of Profiting handsomely from the ” Outsourcers” at Bain…..
I keep hearing/reading lots of people worried about what Obama’s gonna do when
he loses, as he surely is going to do. Martial law, undeclared wars, palace
coup, etc., ANYTHING to desperately hang onto power.
Don’t worry! There is NOTHING even remotely like that he can do. Period…
In order to pull something like that off, you need, you MUST, have to total
cooperation of the military. It simply CANNOT be done unless the military is
on your side and supporting what you’re trying to do. And that AIN’T gonna
happen. Ever!
The military hates this guy even more than they hated Clinton! And I suspect
that even the Secret Service feels pretty much the same way, too.
So, come January, Jug Ears and Sasquatch are being evicted from Our House and
Our Airplane and forever banned from our TV screens.
Goodbye and good riddence!

Years ago, I read Mike Hoare’s book “The Wild Geese,” an account of his days lleading mercenaries against Communist forces in the Belgian Congo. At one point, he mentions that the Swahili word “barack” means “purity, which is easily corrupted.” With the usurper in the White House, we know that at least the second half of the definition is true.
Yes and othere who asked, and didn’t stop asking those same questions, Who is Obama. From where does he come were baracked as lunatics, right-wing nutcases, racists and horror of horrors “birthers”. Are still dismissed by “respectable” commentariate. Somehow however the fait accompli of Obama as Chief Executive of the USA doesnt’ still those questions. Ever more pertinent given his actions some of them patently unlawful even when called Executive Privilege in his/their – he is merely instrument of the eminences of the DNC and others of their leftist persuasion in and out of government – in his/their long planned and engineeredtransformation of their hated America.
Even more so with recent revelations in the public domain but dismissed as insignificant about Obama’s tale of his life and times. Few want to open this can of worms for fear provoking a constitutional crisis of major significance. Let sleeping dogs lie. Awakening this particular sleeping dog must sweep many high status politicians, pundits, celebrities, and others into the murkiness of what appears ever more to be a corrupt insinuation of Barack Hussein Obama into the most powerful political office in the world. And THAT IS a significant chapter in the history of this United States of America. AND the world.
I think Obama’s Bain attacks are ill advised. This is the stuff of “October Surprise” when the media dumps a story giving the candidate no time to prove himself innocent.
I think Obama has screwed the pooch with his “you didn’t build your company, the government did”… the man is getting bad advice.
He has finally defined himself:
“Read me lips. No new taxes”
“I voted before it before I voted against it”
“I knew John Kennedy, and you’re no John Kennedy”
“You didn’t build that business”
I think he finally nail is “foot” to the floor… LOL!
Does anybody commenting on this site look at the polling and the electoral college? Rassmussen only calls land lines and does not call those who use only cell phones. Only Rassmussen and Purple States have Romney ahead. 13 other polls have Obama in the lead. Instead of dozens of comments about Obama’s name why isn’t anyone adding up the swing states– Colorado, Nevada, Iowa, Michigan,, Wisconsin, Ohio, Virginia, North Carolina, New Hampsire, and Florida. Mitt would have to win most of these states to win. He trails in almost all of them. Check it out on Real Clear Politics and the blog 438 in the New York Times. The silly name calling on this site is childish and demeaning. More discussion of blind trusts, Cayman Island and Swiss bank accounts would be more informative. The more Mitt withholds the deeper his hole. Why would anyone running for president have a Swiss bank account and a car elevator. Tin ear anyone?
” … it was the lack at the center of his being: we really had no idea where this fellow came from, who he was, what he stood for.”
Now we are getting closer to the truth. Without a doubt, Obama had a disturbed childhood, leaving a void where more mature people have built character and capabilities. Clinically, Obama is a psychopath, and psychopaths want to control other people to make up for voids in their own lives. All dictators and all dictator wannabes are psychopaths. Marxism is unique among rationales for dictatorship in that it has contrived an economic semi-literate ideology that has never worked, but impresses equally semi-literate and illiterate Marxist wannabes.

Clinically, Obama is a psychopath? Making statements like that makes you sound the like psychopath.
His campaign is flailing as badly as he flails his arms and jumps up and down at the lecturn. I guess the community organizer is really 10 years old.
At least the 10-year old can spell lectern, which is why he is ahead in the polls and has been so for months…
Ander … the reason why he’s “ahead in the polls” has more to do with the oversampling of Democratic voters. It ranges anywhere from 7-9% typically. I would not expect you to be aware of that, as it does not support your worldview, so receives little attention – however it IS factual.
The oversampling may have something to do with folks of Dem persuasion having more time to chit chat with pollsters. After all “they didn’t build that” (or anything else for that matter).. and their Repub brethren are EXACTLY the “somebody else (who) made that (building America) happen”.
This thread proves how paranoid, ignorant and racist the tea paerty types really are, and how they asre willing to bring our economy down in order to try and deny reality, that is was the GOP and now its far right which has put this country in a deep financial hole. The Iraq war alone accounts for one third of our deficit now. Tax cuts for the rich another third. Unpaid Medicare drug bill, also major. All GOP policies. And yet they blame Obama
So, with all our foreign language experts here … Kindly translate “You didn’t build that … somebody else made that happen”.
