In recent protests over the ouster of President Mohammed Morsi in Egypt, Muslim Brotherhood supporters looted, burned and destroyed 58 churches, Christian schools, and other Christian installations. Many members of the Brotherhood have decided to scapegoat the Christians for the downfall of Morsi’s government, even though they had nothing to do with it, and have targeted them ever since. But in fact, as Raymond Ibrahim documents in an important new book, the recent persecution in Egypt is nothing new.

In Crucified Again: Exposing Islam’s New War on Christians (Regnery), Ibrahim, an Egyptian-American Coptic Christian, reveals why it is such a cruel irony that leftists and Islamic supremacists in the U.S. routinely tar the foes of jihad violence with charges of “bigotry” and “hatred.” In reality, it is they who are fronting for a recrudescence of bigotry and hatred on a grand – indeed, worldwide – scale: the Muslim war on Christians that stretches from Nigeria to Indonesia and involves restrictions on Christians’ freedom and Christian worship, creating a climate of hate in which Christians live on the precarious edge, constantly bracing themselves for a violent Muslim outbreak against them that could come at any time, without warning.

In Egypt, which Ibrahim uses as a paradigmatic example of the plight of Christians in Muslim countries, Coptic Christians have suffered discrimination and harassment for centuries. The recent worsening of their situation didn’t start just with the “Arab Spring.”

Late in 2010, for instance, Muslims in Egypt subjected the Copts to an unprecedented reign of terror. An Islamic jihad-martyrdom suicide bomber murdered twenty-two people and wounded eighty more at the Coptic Christian Church of the Saints in Alexandria, Egypt on New Year’s Eve. Just days later, as Christmas (which Copts celebrate on January 7) 2011 approached, an Islamic website carried this ominous exhortation: “Blow up the churches while they are celebrating Christmas or any other time when the churches are packed.”

There has been a huge flood of Christians fleeing the Middle East. Most countries had 5-15% Christians in them, now they are almost all gone. I think some people think that Islam is growing in the US faster than it really is, simply because the see Orthodox Christians from the Middle East and assume they are Islamic!

Lebanon was a majority Christian in the 70's, not sure what it is now.

The State Dept. doesn't give a rat's butt about Christians being slaughtered by muzzies. After all, muzzies are good & Christians evil. I know reporters that work in the MSM. Know what they privately say about this situation? They say that Christians deserve to be persecuited & killed! Such is the thinking of our gov't, media & educational system. But, I've read Revelations & I know who wins in the end...

Islam has always persecuted ANY OTHER religion its what their Koran teaches them to do. The reason for the upsurge of Islamic terrorist activities recently after lying dormant but not forgotten for centuries is because they have been emboldened an influx of Oil wealth. A commodity they never even knew existed even though they lived on top of it and whats more they had no ability to recover it or refine it and no Muslim ever invented anything to use it for. No for all that they needed , and still do, Kaffirs.
So now with riches they don't deserve and revenue they did NOTHING for they finance worldwide terrorism and war. Just like Mohammad in the 7th Century Islam is on the march via the SWORD with the ultimate Islamic aim of ruling the World and either converting everyone or turning them in to tribute paying second class citizen Dhimmies. Read the Koran its all in there. Oh and the Jews will all DIE under Islam.

Dogwoman woman above is right. And I fear terribly that about one thing Spencer is wrong. He says that the governments of the world are turning a blind eye towards this atrocities against Christians.

I think i worse. I believe that governments - generally on the Left - have written Christians off. The Doctrinal and Radical Left is merely more insulting in that they insist on dictating by law what a Christian is.

Other Western Government are not so insulting perhaps, but they have written Christians off none the less.

If you think me wrong then ponder this - at one extreme we have killings, on the other we have polite dismissal.

@hateWindows You may be right, but that doesn't explain the silence from the pulpits, on most of the Internet, and in virtually all of the press.

The Almighty God creator of Heaven and Earth and his Son Jesus Christ sitting high on his throne at the Right hand of God I see everyday turns flesh into holy and makes saints out human beings

Acts
12 So they stirred up the people and the elders and the teachers of the law. They seized Stephen and brought him before the Sanhedrin. 13 They produced false witnesses, who testified, “This fellow never stops speaking against this holy place and against the law. 14 For we have heard him say that this Jesus of Nazareth will destroy this place and change the customs Moses handed down to us.”

15 All who were sitting in the Sanhedrin looked intently at Stephen, and they saw that his face was like the face of an angel.

footnote chapter 7
"55 But Stephen, full of the Holy Spirit, looked up to heaven and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing at the right hand of God. 56 “Look,” he said, “I see heaven open and the Son of Man standing at the right hand of God.”
