Colorado Springs Burn Restrictions in Place

You knew this was coming:

The city’s restrictions prohibit bonfires, open burning and recreational fires. In addition, smoking materials must be disposed of in a non-combustile container. Burning in portable and fixed fireplaces is allowed. Shooting off model rockets and operating blasting and welding torches are allowed by permit only.

The unincorporated areas of the county are under Stage 1 fire restrictions, which prohibit open burning and outdoor fires, unless done within permanently constructed fire grates in developed campgrounds and picnic areas.

The use of wood-burning stoves and charcoal grills at private residences in areas cleared of flammable materials is allowed.

If they ban charcoal, I’ll move before I evacuate.
