Schadenfreude

More so-bad-it-feels-so-good news from Germany:

Support for German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder’s coalition fell as unemployment rose to the highest since World War II and the opposition called on Green party Foreign Minister Joschka Fischer to resign, a poll found.

Backing for Schroeder’s Social Democratic Party declined 2 percentage points from the previous week to 32 percent, while its junior coalition partner, the Greens, fell 1 point to 8 percent, its lowest since the 2002 election, according to the poll of 2,500 voters conducted by market researcher Forsa between Feb. 21 and Feb. 25 for Stern magazine and RTL television.

Schroeder’s reelection slogan should be: “Gerhard: Slightly More Popular Than Nixon!”

I’ve got to stop now; I’m getting all tingly.
