I was thinking of writing something uplifting and celebratory and not-too-weepy for our nation’s 227th birthday, but this guy beat me to the punch.

Besides, a better celebration is some quiet time at home with the wife and the two furry children. Just enjoying some of that safety and freedom created by my betters over 200 years ago in Philadelphia, and protected today by my betters in uniform.

As for all you civilians, spend the day happy and spend it well.
