On Saturday, October 20, a book store in New York will host a “Ritual to Hex Brett Kavanaugh.” Roman Catholics have arranged prayer events to counter this spiritual activity, with one exorcist condemning the event as a “conjuring of evil.” According to reports, proceeds from the tickets will go to Planned Parenthood and the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC), along with other LGBT activist groups.
“Please join us for a publich [sic] hex on Brett Kavanaugh and upon all rapists and the patriarchy which emboldens, rewards and protects them,” the Eventbrite event page urges. “We will be embracing witchcraft’s true roots as the magik [sic] of the poor, the downtrodden and disenfranchised and it’s [sic] history as often the only weapon, the only means of exacting justice available to those of us who have been wronged by men just like him.”
“He will be the focal point, but by no means the only target, so bring your rage and and all of the axes you’ve got to grind,” the page adds. After the hexing, the witches will perform a second ritual, “The Rites of the Scorned One,” which “seeks to validate, affirm, uphold and support those of us who have been wronged and who refuse to be silent any longer.”
According to the Eventbrite page, tickets cost $10 and 50 percent of the proceeds will go to charity: 25 percent to the Ali Forney Center (an organization aimed at helping LGBT homeless people) and 25 percent to Planned Parenthood.
The Eventbrite page has not announced how many people will attend, although the tickets have been sold out. Supporters can still send money by “purchasing” tickets on Eventbrite. At least 1,600 people have marked themselves as “going” and more than 15,000 have marked themselves as “interested” on the Facebook event page.
The high Facebook numbers may be misleading, since the Catland bookshop in Brooklyn, N.Y., is small. The National Catholic Register reported that the bookshop said that only 60 people will attend. Many witches have expressed their desire to join in the ceremony from afar, however.
“I’m going to have to perform this ritual in Florida and early in the day because I have a wiccaning to perform later in the evening, but I will store the energy and delay it’s release until 10pm, to be with you,” a woman who goes by name “Celestial Sojourner” posted. “More power to you, beloved witches, and bright blessings.”
“How can we participate from afar? I’m in Ohio,” another woman added.
“I can’t make it to New York, what can I do from Michigan to help? Specifically, what ritual(s) are y’all doing so I can do them from home?” another asked.
One more chimed in, “Focused cursing from the UK.”
While the event may be small in person, it seems many witches will be joining in the hexing from afar. Given the large number of Facebook “attendees,” it seems likely at least 200 witches will be cursing the Supreme Court justice on Saturday.
Then again, not all self-described witches are joining in. “This is absolutely disgusting,” a man who identified himself as a “Traditional Witch” chimed in. “Myself and other Traditional Witches shall do a rebound ritual to ensure ANYBODY breaking the Witches Oath gets back 3 times what they send. Do what thou wilt but harm ye none. Do not forget that.”
Another “practicing witch” denounced the event as “ridiculous.” She mocked, “Although it will be amusing to see how many men in your lives who will be affected. So remember the Wiccan rede, do what thy will but harm none.”
Christians and Roman Catholics also posted on the Facebook event page.
“The devil is thriving with his many worshipers. Kavanaugh is one of God’s children and will continue to be protected by our Lord. Shame on you that participate in this, I’m praying for you,” one woman posted.
A Roman Catholic man mocked the event as “about making money.” He described Catholic efforts to protect Kavanaugh (who is himself Roman Catholic): “We have the power of the True and Living God, and have covered judge Kavanaugh in the Precious Blood of Jesus Christ and envelope him the mantel of Our Lady’s Rosary…AND IT’S ALL FREE.”
Catholics have responded with fasting and prayer, “not just for the protection of Kavanaugh, but for those who wish him harm,” The National Catholic Register reported.
Father Gary Thomas, the exorcist for the Diocese of San Jose, Calif., has scheduled masses for Kavanaugh on Thursday and Saturday.
“I sent this to a load of exorcists yesterday and their reaction was similar to mine,” Thomas told the Register. “That shows this is not something that is make believe.”
The exorcist lamented that in the 12 years since he started casting out demons, he has witnessed witches becoming bolder. “They are more confident that the general public will be more accepting of the demonic,” he said. Many in the satanic world are trumpeting freedom of religion.
“This is a conjuring of evil — not about free speech,” Thomas declared. “Conjuring up personified evil does not fall under free speech. Satanic cults often commit crimes; they murder and sexually abuse everyone it their cult. They are going to direct the evil to have a permanently adverse effect on the Supreme Court justice.”
The exorcist said he has witnessed harm come upon people, including physical illness, psychosis, depression, and demon attachment. It is possible for people to avoid the ill-effects of curses through confession and absolution, remaining in a “state of grace.”
“When curses are directed at people in a state of grace, they have little or no effect,” Thomas said.
Again, the exorcist denounced the witches involved in this event. “The decision to do this against a Supreme Court justice is a heinous act and says a lot about the character of these people that should not be underestimated or dismissed,” Thomas told the Register. “These are real evil people.”
The bookshop put on three events hexing President Donald Trump last year. Earlier this year, the Vatican hosted a global training for exorcists. Newly released emails showed Arizona Democrat Senate candidate Kyrsten Sinema invited witches to an anti-war event in 2003.
The bookshop has another hex scheduled for November 3, and proceeds from this event will go to the Southern Poverty Law Center (a far-Left smear group that brands mainstream conservative organizations “hate groups”) and the Sylvia Rivera Law Project (an LGBT legal support firm).
While Kavanaugh faced accusations of sexual assault from no fewer than 5 accusers, each claim fell apart. Even the testimony of Christine Blasey Ford had serious holes and contradictions. Activists who vocally opposed Kavanaugh before the accusations became public later seized on the accusations, acting as though opposing Kavanaugh’s confirmation were a key stance for the integrity of the #MeToo movement against sexual assault.
