Kavanaugh Chokes Back Tears Talking About Daughter’s Prayers for His Accuser

During his testimony on Thursday, Supreme Court nominee Judge Brett Kavanaugh broke into tears recalling his daughter Liza praying for his sexual assault accuser, Christine Blasey Ford. This one moment was more heartbreaking than Ford's testimony — and Ford claims to be the victim.

After declaring unequivocally, "I am innocent of this charge," Kavanaugh recalled his daughter's prayer.

"I intend no ill will to Dr. Ford and her family. The other night, Ashley and my daughter Liza said their prayers, and little Liza, all of ten years old, said to Ashley, we should pray for the woman," the judge recalled. "That’s a lot of wisdom from a ten-year-old. We mean no ill will."

This kind of charity toward one's accuser — toward the person whose story (which could have been investigated privately, had Dianne Feinstein decided to go that route) is destroying your reputation and bringing threats upon your family — is exactly what the Bible calls for. As St. Paul wrote in Romans 12:20-21, "'If your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink; for by so doing you will heap burning coals on his head.' Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good."

To hear this proud father break into tears describing the charity of his 10-year-old daughter Liza is utterly inspiring and heartbreaking at the same time.

Kavanaugh came right out of the gate with a fiery declaration that amounts to nothing less than prophecy.

"You sowed the wind, for decades to come I fear that the whole country will reap the whirlwind," he declared.

The judge denounced the accusations as a "grotesque character assassination" that "will dissuade good people from serving our country."

Nevertheless, he insisted, "I will not be intimidated into withdrawing from this process. Your coordinated and well-funded effort to destroy my good name and destroy my family will not drive me out."

This man is fighting for his life, and he has all the righteous indignation of a man falsely accused in a smear tactic to destroy his life and his family. Seeing his wife Ashley sitting behind him, stone-faced and on the verge of tears, is utterly heart wrenching. What has our country come to?
