On Monday, Sen. Mazie Hirono (D-Hawaii) compared Supreme Court Justices Neil Gorsuch, Samuel Alito, and Clarence Thomas to “the three horsemen of the apocalypse” for their decision to partially grant the Trump administration’s request to lift a stay and implement his travel ban, which Hirono called a “Muslim ban.”

“Neil Gorsuch, who I did not support as a Supreme Court justice, he’s joined two of the most conservative justices, Clarence Thomas, and Alito on the Court to take the position that the entire injunction should have been lifted,” Hinoro said on MSNBC’s “Andrea Mitchell Reports.”

“This is like the three horsemen of the apocalypse, and they’re waiting for the fourth one to come along so that they can go on their trend toward what I call extremism,” Hirono added. “I’m not surprised at all that Neil Gorsuch is right in there with Thomas and Alito, wanting to pretty much tell the president, ‘You just go right ahead, impose a Muslim ban.'”

While Trump did propose “a total and complete shutdown of Muslims entering the United States” during the 2016 campaign, his travel ban executive order did not aim to achieve that. Instead, it temporarily prohibited travel from specific Muslim-majority countries of terror concern.

The Supreme Court decision Monday allowed Trump’s order to be implemented, but only in limited ways. The president championed the ruling as a victory for his administration, but the case will be argued when the court returns for the fall term in the beginning of October.

The escalating rhetoric of the Left applied against the Trump administration (with Bernie Sanders calling Trump the “worst and most dangerous” president in history, Tom Steyer accusing him of treason for pulling out of the Paris climate accord, and various celebrities joking about killing him) has arguably contributed to a toxic political atmosphere where a liberal activist like James Hodgkinson engages in armed violence.

Hirono’s comparison of the Trump-era Supreme Court to the terrifying figures of Revelation doesn’t help matters.
