League of Conservation Voters Decries Influence of Out-of-State Billionaires While Taking Money from Out-of-State Billionaires

The allegedly non-partisan League of Conservation Voters is fully on board with the latest Democratic Party talking points. Following the lead of Sen. Harry Reid’s obsession with the Koch brothers, the LCV is blasting away at the Koch brothers, according to The Hill:

The League of Conservation Voters (LCV) launched a new TV spot Tuesday targeting GOP Senate candidate Scott Brown for his ties to conservative donors Charles and David Koch.

The 30-second ad buy called “Billionaires” asks why the “out-of-state oil billionaires” are in New Hampshire.

“It’s no surprise that the out-of-state oil billionaire Koch Brothers are behind a multimillion dollar ad campaign to defeat Jeanne Shaheen and send one of Big Oil’s best friends back to the Senate. They know Scott Brown will continue where he left off by protecting oil industry profits at the expense of taxpayers and public health,” said Daniel J. Weiss, senior vice president for campaigns at the LCV.

That’s a funny charge, coming from the League of Conservation Voters.

Hedge fund billionaire Tom Steyer is widely known to be using his billions to demand that the Democratic Party does exactly what he wants, or he will pull his $100 million funding. Steyer uses his money to play in elections all over the country. Steyer claims that he is only interested in preserving the environment. Actually, he’s just a rent-seeker who “depends on government connections to produce subsidies and mandates that make his ‘green’ energy investments profitable,” according to Powerline.

He fits the very definition of an “out-of-state billionaire,” yet the LCV isn’t slamming him or any Democrat who takes money from him. Because the LCV agrees with him.

The LCV also agrees with the Rockefellers, whose fortune was built on oil. The LCV is based in Washington, DC. The Rockefellers are based all over, chiefly in New York. Laurence and Wendy Rockefeller of New York give substantially to the League every year, according to Open Secrets. According to the New York Times, “Mr. Rockefeller is a great-grandson of John D. Rockefeller, a founder of the Standard Oil Company; the late Senator Nelson W. Aldrich of Rhode Island, and the late Frederick Billings, president of the Northern Pacific Railroad.”

Just one of the guys!

The League of Conservation Voters doesn’t have a problem taking money from “out-of-state billionaires,” does it?

Would it kill them to make an honest, principled argument rather than resorting to hypocritical “out-of-state billionaires” nonsense?
