'Brown Shirts' Are Silencing Medical Personnel on the Texas-Mexico Border

Todd Starnes reports that “Brown Shirts” who have been hired by the federal government are actively silencing medical personnel who are dealing with the flood of illegal aliens on the Texas-Mexico border. Medical personnel are under threat of arrest if they talk, but some are talking anyway.

“There were several of us who wanted to talk about the camps, but the agents made it clear we would be arrested,” a psychiatric counselor told me. “We were under orders not to say anything.”

The sources said workers were guarded by a security force from the Baptist Family & Children’s Services, which the Department of Health and Human Services hired to run the Lackland Camp.

The sources say security forces called themselves the “Brown Shirts.”

“It was a very submissive atmosphere,” the counselor said. “Once you stepped onto the grounds, you abided by their laws – the Brown Shirt laws.”

Let’s unpack some of that.  The Baptist Family & Children’s Services has a branch in San Antonio, Texas, so the “Brown Shirts” are likely coming from that group. The government has contracted with BFCS’ Emergency Management Division. Here’s how they dress on duty, in this stock photo from the group’s website.

As for those brown shirts, the BFCS said they are “incident management team personnel” – who happen to wear tan shirts.

The San Antonio branch is hiring…

Their website confirms that they are working on the border crisis.

They are acting under the orders specified in their government contract with the Department of Health and Human Services — the Obamacare bunch. So, obviously, it’s ultimately the federal government that is silencing the doctors and nurses who are dealing with the illegal aliens. The Baptist “Brown Shirts” are just the means.

What the medical personnel report seeing — and being told not to talk about — is terrible.

She said the workers were stripped of their cellphones and other communication devices. Anyone caught with a phone was immediately fired.

“Everyone was paranoid,” she said. “The children had more rights than the workers.”

She said children in the camp had measles, scabies, chicken pox and strep throat as well as mental and emotional issues.

“It was not a good atmosphere in terms of health,” she said. “I would be talking to children and lice would just be climbing down their hair.”

A former nurse at the camp told me she was horrified by what she saw.

“We have so many kids coming in that there was no way to control all of the sickness – all this stuff coming into the country,” she said. “We were very concerned at one point about strep going around the base.”

Both the counselor and the nurse said their superiors tried to cover up the extent of the illnesses.

“When they found out the kids had scabies, the charge nurse was adamant – ‘Don’t mention that. Don’t say scabies,’” the nurse recounted. “But everybody knew they had scabies. Some of the workers were very concerned about touching things and picking things up. They asked if they should be concerned, but they were told don’t worry about it.”

The nurse said the lice issue was epidemic – but everything was kept “hush-hush.”

“You could see the bugs crawling through their hair,” she said. “After we would rinse out their hair, the sink would be loaded with black bugs.”

These kids are being shipped around all over the country, in buses and aircraft, potentially spreading their ailments around as they go. With three documented cases of swine flu in the alien population in Texas already, this is a rising public health threat.

Yet the Obama government wants silence, under threat of arrest.

With “Brown Shirts” running the enforcement…

There’s much more at the link. Like the frustrated Border Patrol, the medical personnel are starting to just give up and bug out — they’re quitting.

The crisis is only likely to grow. Even if the flood at the border slows or stops, we will have tens of thousands of unscreened children here who do not belong here, but who may not have homes to go to elsewhere. As long as the border remains flooded with thousands of illegal aliens, it represents a national security threat.
