Why Did Republicans Just Endorse 'The Moderate' to Challenge Al Franken?

On today’s Fightin Words podcast: Among other things, the recent endorsement of Mike McFadden by the Republican Party to challenge Senator Al Franken in Minnesota demonstrates that the activist community is far from monolithic. Ultimately, McFadden drew support from many within the Tea Party and the liberty community, despite being widely regarded as “the establishment candidate” and “the moderate.” So why would movement activists be willing to support the heir to Norm Coleman? There’s a method to what some perceive as madness.
