Heh: Wendy Davis' Website Sends Supporters to Opposition

It’s been a bad week for Democrats and web sites. Obamacare rolled out to a glitchfest so massive the world hasn’t really gotten our arms around it yet. And a day after abortion queen Democrat Wendy Davis launched her gubernatorial campaign website, a large oops was revealed.

It was linking to a web site built to criticize her.

Texas Democrat Wendy Davis’s newly official bid for governor hit a minor snag on Thursday when the campaign sent thank-you emails to donors that linked to an anti-Davis website with a similar address to that of the campaign’s actual site.

“The mistake was clearly made in error,” said a campaign spokesman in an email.

“It looks to me like it was a glitch,” said Matt Angle, a Davis campaign adviser and director of Democratic group The Lone Star Project. “It was noticed and fixed real quickly, which kind of shows the system works.”

Nice try, Angle. The goof shows that QA problems aren’t limited to the federal government.

Here’s the site that Davis’ team accidentally linked to. Its URL, wendydavisfortexas.com, was three letters off from Davis’ actual site. The critical web site shows a video of Texas AG Greg Abbott, the likely GOP nominee for governor, though it is registered to a Dallas GOP consultant who is not working for the Abbott campaign.

The incident points to the Texas Democrats’ amateurishness and unreadiness to lead a viable statewide campaign.
