Free Speech is Dead in the UK

The UK government has banned US bloggers Robert Spencer and Pamela Geller from entering the country, and then lied about it.

Pamela Geller and Robert Spencer co-founded anti-Muslim group Stop Islamization of America.

They were due to speak at an English Defence League march in Woolwich, where Drummer Lee Rigby was killed.

A government spokesman said individuals whose presence “is not conducive to the public good” could be excluded by the home secretary.

He added: “We condemn all those whose behaviours and views run counter to our shared values and will not stand for extremism in any form.”

Nope. Not even close to the truth. The truth is that while Spencer and Geller are banned for saying the truth about Islamism, the UK government allows jihadists in and subsidizes them with lavish welfare benefits.

Islamist hate preacher Anjem Choudary is a case in point. The man has been on welfare to the tune of over $30,000 per year, for years. After jihadists butchered British soldier Lee Rigby on the streets of London this year, Choudary said that he hoped Rigby would “burn in hell.” He called Lee’s killer a “nice man.” Choudary is still drawing welfare. There’s an effort to finally cut him off, but as of now he’s still living fat and happy on the Brits’ dime. He’s far from alone. The truth is that the UK gives welfare to thousands of jihadist who aren’t even UK citizens and whose behaviors are very much worth condemning, but are instead subsidized by taxpayers.

Meanwhile, the only reason that Spencer and Geller’s presence could be seen at against the “public good” is because they will say true things about jihadists, and jihadists might respond to factual criticism of them with riots and violence.

I suppose if I ever try to go to England to see the Gunners play, some Home Office hack will look at posts like this one and ban me too. So be it. I’m not sure there’ll be an England in the meaningful sense for much longer.
