Obama Campaign Email Asks Donors to 'Dig Deep'

The latest solicitation from the Obama campaign comes from the president himself. Centered on his 51st birthday, which is coming up next month, Obama asks his supporters for to submit $3 donations, which will qualify them for a raffled trip to attend his birthday party in Chicago.

“This get-together might be the last chance we’ll all get to relax for a few hours in the next few months,” says the email. “Each of us needs to dig deep if we want another reason to celebrate on Election Night.”

The plaintive tone follows the president’s remark scolding business leaders that they did not build their own businesses. His campaign has badly trailed the Romney campaign’s fundraising two months in a row. If major donors react to the president’s comments negatively, two could easily become three.
