Developing: Hispanic group calls for deployment of US troops on US-Mexico border

Steve Navarre, the President of the Conservative Hispanic Society, called for the U.S. military to be deployed to the U.S. Mexico border.  Navarre outlined the proposal on America’s Radio News on Thursday.  The plan is called the “Secure the Border First Initiative.”  The CHS is trying to pass the initiative in the Texas State House. Navarre told anchors Chris Salcedo and Lori Lundin that he regards members of the drug cartels as terrorists. “We need to deal with terrorists like we deal with terrorists anywhere else in the world,” Navarre said.  Navarre says the CHS will be in Austin next Monday to rally support for the initiative.  They say some legislators have expressed interest in supporting their idea, which would free up funds to support National Guard troops for deployment to the Texas/Mexico border.
