Electric car makes long trips longer

The BBC feels the need…it feels the need for speed:

In its obsessive desire to promote the virtues of electric cars, the BBC proudly showed us last week how its reporter Brian Milligan was able to drive an electric Mini from London to Edinburgh in a mere four days – with nine stops of up to 10 hours to recharge the batteries (with electricity from fossil fuels).

The distance from London to Edinburgh is about 331 miles.  For a little perspective, the drive from Dallas to San Antonio is about 274 miles – about 60 miles shorter than the BBC’s electric car trip.  The Beeb’s electric Mini would turn a four hour drive (assuming traffic on I-35 is reasonably cooperative) into nearly four days.  This will not do.
