OUR LONG NATIONAL NIGHTMARE IS OVER.
I'm back doing videos, America, which will be better for all of us in the long run.
Kyrsten Sinema — my former senator — jumped back into the news last weekend, taking swings at congressional Democrats for their hypocrisy regarding the filibuster. It was a lot of fun to watch play out on X, even though I got to it belatedly because of my regularly scheduled weekend news coma.
There was a long-running gag on "Five O'Clock Somewhere" about me doing some bipartisan outreach and trying to have dinner with then-Senator Sinema, age gap be damned. This episode is really about the way that Republicans and Democrats used to get along, but I haven't ruled out the dinner thing now that she's back in Arizona.
While not exactly cut from the same cloth as the Democrats I knew back when I first became an activist, Sinema was reminiscent of my political Olden Times when she was in office. That's what prompted me to get back in front of a camera. Also, I've been on a relentless fitness journey since early February, and I no longer have to wear male muumuus in polite company.
I was in a hurry when setting up for this, and I apologize for the camera angle that provided a few up-nostril shots. I had to get it done and multiple takes were out of the question. As I told Producer Jim, "I just don't have time for vanity today."
Don't worry, that won't last.
Enjoy!
