Sucking the Joy Out of Everything
Some may say I dream too big, but I one day hope to be able to sit down, turn on my television, and watch something without fear of hearing a liberal talking point painfully shoehorned into the script.
I also dream of living to at least 125, and having my quality of life being wonderful up until my death.
That’s probably more likely to happen than the TV thing.
Wokeness is ruining everything. It’s also a stupid word, but it’s what we’re calling it these days.
While I used “Hollywood” in the headline, wokeness has infected every aspect of entertainment.
Earlier this week, People magazine voted singer John Legend its annual “Sexiest Man Alive.” John Legend looks like a constipated titmouse. He is, however, super woke and vocal about it, having recently participated in the remake of the Christmas classic “Baby It’s Cold Outside,” with lyrics that appease the delicate politically correct crowd.
That’s apparently sexy to the reality-challenged woke folk.
Before making Joker, director Todd Phillips was churning out hit comedies like the Hangover movies and Old School. He quit doing comedies because the joysuckers got to be too much:
“Go try to be funny nowadays with this woke culture,” Phillips told VF.
“Friends” is one of the most iconic and beloved sitcoms in television history, and it has been under steady assault from the woke left for over a year. There are now strong rumors about a reunion show and demands are already being made to ruin it with wokeness.
I wrote a post yesterday about Disney’s recent offering to the woke gods. Old cartoon movies like Dumbo and The Aristocats that are airing on the company’s new Disney Plus streaming service begin with a warning describing the fact that societal norms displayed in decades-old movies no longer apply.
There is no warning to the audience about confusing cartoons with real life.
Sadly, the examples of these kinds of things run on seemingly forever. The only way to combat it is to go out of our way to support people who don’t cave to the outrage mob.
I’m off to see if I can offend anyone.
