Republican or Democrat, I don't necessarily like writing about politicians' kids, especially those who don't choose to put themselves out there. As we all know, 20-year-old Barron Trump lives a fairly private life, especially compared to his parents and siblings.
But the Iranian regime is not so kind. As a matter of fact, what it did recently is some of the worst propaganda I've seen in a while.
From what I understand, Iranian state TV (Channel 3) played a three-minute video called "Where to kill Barron Trump." That alone should give you an idea of just how gruesome it was. And as if that wasn't bad enough, it also allegedly offered a $10 million reward for his death. I don't think that's confirmed in the video, but it's being widely reported. I should also note that the original video did not appear anywhere online in an official capacity, so we're stuck with what's being passed around on social media.
I saw some of the AI-generated video on anti-regime London-based journalist Niyak Ghorbani's X account, and it has English subtitles, so I'm going by those since I do not speak the language. But it starts out claiming that a girl was able to get past the Secret Service protocols and have a private meeting with Barron, and she apparently handed the regime or whoever made the video the information about his day-to-day life.
It then goes on to explain where and how Barron spends his days in New York and Washington, D.C., both at home and at school, as well as how he gets around in a convoy of Secret Service vehicles. It even talks about the classes he takes, how his "bodyguards" are always around and he's never alone, and how those Secret Service members ditch their suits and dress casually like students to blend in with his classmates. It also shows some NYU dorm rooms.
But then it claims there's a loophole in Barron's, whom the video calls "reclusive," online presence. It says he does not give out his phone number to friends, but that the regime has uncovered some of his other personal accounts that aren't so secure, such as his Xbox, FIFA video games, and Discord, as well as the accounts for some of his friends.
It also mentions that his friends have low-security digital footprints and posts what appears to be screenshots of their profiles. It even names at least one of them. At some point, it apparently says, "This is just the beginning! Barron Trump, wait for us!"
I debated whether or not to embed the video here, and I ultimately decided against it. Our managing editor Chris Queen suggested I link it for those who want to see it, and while it's not graphic, I will say that it's very disturbing, or, at least, it was to me. Here's a link to it — it's easy to find on X as well if you're curious.
Of course, this isn't the first time the Trump family has dealt with such threats from the regime. The president himself has been the target of several, as has the first lady, and some of Donald Trump's other children. There was even a "Where to Kill Melania" video circulating last month.
"The U.S. Secret Service is aware of the video and investigates anything that can be perceived as a threat toward our protectees," a spokesperson for the Secret Service told The New York Post. "Out of concern for operational security, we do not discuss matters of protective intelligence."
Experts say this is simply psychological warfare or propaganda, and there is likely no real immediate threat to Barron's life, although I have to say: I can be a little hot-headed at times, but if I had the power and this was my kid, I'd just have to finish them.
