I just noticed that I was nominated for “Best Essayist” in the annual weblog awards. It’s flattering, I suppose, but I don’t even consider myself an essayist, unless three paragraphs make an essay. Maybe next year, if I keep writing reviews for NRO. This year I voted for Victor Davis Hanson, who I noticed is ahead. But then I could just as well have voted for James Lileks. (Hey, I was a Yankee fan when I was a kid.)
