If President Kamala Names This Man Attorney General, It’s Really Game Over for the Republic

A Kamala Harris presidency is a nightmare scenario of ever-expanding federal control over the daily lives of citizens amid a strangling economy and increasingly aggressive foreign enemies. Even worse could be in the offing if Richard Grenell, who served as ambassador to Germany and Acting Director of National Intelligence (DNI) during the Trump administration, is correct about who Harris has in mind to be attorney general in her regime.

Antifa running wild in American cities while their leaders look on idly or even applaud? Increasingly onerous restrictions on the freedom of speech? Further betrayals of American allies? All that and more is on the table if Keith Ellison becomes attorney general.

Ellison, you’ll recall, was the first Muslim elected to Congress and later became deputy chair of the Democratic National Committee. Then, with Ilhan Omar (D-Mogadishu) and Rashida Tlaib (D-Rafah) poised in Jan. 2019 to take up his torch in the House of Representatives, Ellison became attorney general of Minnesota, where he has aided in the transformation of that state into the haven for Somali migrants and epicenter of jihad activity that it is today.

Grenell wrote on X Saturday that “Arab American leaders in Detroit have been told by the Kamala campaign that @keithellison is on the short list to be Attorney General if she should win.” Ellison, who never, ever breaks character, ascribed the very idea to “Islamophobia,” responding to Grenell with this: “This is a lie designed to trigger the Muslim-haters.”

This denial wasn’t entirely convincing as the Harris campaign is clearly deeply worried about losing both Michigan and Minnesota and is busy devising new ways to betray Israel in order to placate the enraged Muslim Arab voter base in both states. Touting Ellison as a possible attorney general makes perfect sense in this context, while Ellison’s claim that Grenell is lying lacks a motive. No one was thinking about Ellison until Grenell reminded us of his existence. What would be in that for Grenell if the report weren’t true?

Keith Ellison as attorney general of the United States, however, would make the misbegotten reigns of Eric Holder and Merrick Garland look like sunshine days of equal justice for all and a new flowering of patriotism. On Jan. 3, 2018, Ellison tweeted and later deleted a photo of himself holding a book entitled “Antifa: The Anti-Fascist Handbook,” with the caption “At @MoonPalaceBooks and I just found the book that strike [sic] fear in the heart of @realDonaldTrump.”

Ellison’s choice of words was interesting in light of this from the holy book that Ellison, as a convert to Islam, reveres: “Make ready for them all that you can of force and of warhorses, so that by them you may strike terror in the enemy of Allah and your enemy, and others beside them whom you do not know. Allah knows them. Whatever you spend in the way of Allah, it will be repaid to you in full, and you will not be wronged” (Qur’an 8:60).

Does Ellison want to “strike terror in the enemy of Allah”? He certainly wants such people silenced; in July 2018, he even wrote to Jeff Bezos, demanding that Amazon stop selling books written by people that the far-left hate group Southern Poverty Law Center blacklisted. As attorney general, would he help Harris implement speech restrictions? Oh, you betcha, as they used to say in the bad old pre-diversity Minnesota.

Ellison hasn’t mellowed in the intervening years. The Washington Free Beacon reported just nine days after Hamas massacred 1,200 Israelis that Ellison’s chief of staff Donna Cassutt “promoted a pro-Hamas rally in Minneapolis, where demonstrators called for Israel’s eradication and told Israeli ‘settlers’ to ‘f**k off.’” Fox News noted Sunday that in 2023, Ellison “compared Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas to the slave character in Quentin Tarantino’s 2012 film ‘Django Unchained.’”

Ellison also blamed automobile manufacturers for a spike in auto theft and coddled rioters who participated in summer 2020’s far-left destruction of cities to honor George Floyd. At the Democratic National Convention last month, Ellison trotted out the most absurd of the left’s talking points in these days of our two-tier justice system, accusing Republicans of thinking "they’re above the law."

Patriots don’t actually think they’re above the law. With the Biden-Harris regime having weaponized the justice system against its political opponents, patriots know that at this point they’re below the law. And if Keith Ellison ever becomes attorney general, it will get much worse.
