Joe Biden has apparently given up trying to sell the voters on the fine job he's done with building the American economy. He's decided to go all in on reminding voters that Donald Trump was convicted in a trial that even many on the left question.
That's a very bad idea. Trump raised $141 million in May for his campaign and other organizations backing the former president raised an additional $150 million. Most of that cash came in after the trial verdict was in.
But Biden is under the gun. His hysterical left-wing base is demanding Biden hammer Trump all day, every day on the outcome of the trial. And Biden, a weak man to begin with, is acquiescing to that demand.
Biden referred to Trump as "unhinged" for attacking the justice system. “It’s reckless and dangerous for anyone to say that’s rigged just because they don’t like the outcome,” he said.
The Trump campaign shot back that Biden was only trying to deflect attention from his son's trial on weapons charges.
But this is a big change from Friday after the verdict. At that time, Biden, when asked about the verdict, smiled and walked away. This time, he embraced the attack on Trump.
Mr. Trump’s offender status was not the only line of attack for Mr. Biden during the fund-raiser.
Mr. Biden brought up the time when Mr. Trump suggested during a White House coronavirus briefing four years ago that bleach could be used to treat the disease, medical advice that was instantly debunked.
“He must have injected it into his brain,” Mr. Biden said, according to a pool report.
How could Biden possibly think this will help his campaign, or even that it's an effective line of attack? Everybody has heard that story. They've heard the spin put on it by Democrats. The story is three years old. But it's the kind of attack Biden's mouth-breathing base is howling for.
Polls show that the voters "agree with the verdict." Most of them have no clue what the trial was all about and even if they do, it's not affecting their vote for or against Trump.
But that isn't stopping Biden's base from clamoring for Joe to hit 'im hard. So Biden is putting on his Dr. Freud hat and psychoanalyzing Trump for the voters.
"The threat that Trump poses would be greater in a second term than it was in his first term. This isn’t the same Trump who got elected in 2016. He’s worse," said Biden at a Connecticut fundraiser on Monday. "Something snapped in him when he lost in 2020. He can’t accept he lost, and it is literally driving him crazy," he said.
The left are all frustrated psychiatrists. Or sex therapists. Sometimes, they can't tell whether they're psychoanalyzing a Republican or begging to whip them in some kind of sadomasochistic ritual.

Retiring Sen. Mitt Romney, no friend of the former president, pointed out the deficiency in the Democrat's strategy in the Wall Street Journal. “Bragg should have settled the case against Trump, as would have been the normal procedure. But he made a political decision,” Mr. Romney said. “Bragg may have won the battle, for now, but he may have lost the political war. Democrats think they can put out the Trump fire with oxygen. It’s political malpractice.”
It's almost beyond belief. Biden is doing exactly what Trump wants him to do. And by election day, Biden may look back and regret taking campaign advice from the far left.
