Three 'Harmless' Bumper Stickers That Police Say Can Destroy Your Family

Have you ever sat in traffic behind a minivan, read all its decals and bumper stickers, and thought, “My gosh, what a nice family. I feel like I’ve known them for years”?

If so, you’re not alone. The criminals sitting in traffic behind your minivan do the same thing–and take notes.

The Gainesville (Georgia) Police Department communicated that message by posting this diagram on its Facebook page on October 1, 2015. At the time of this writing, it had 2,521 shares, 453 likes, and 34 comments.

Is this just an alarmist image from the friendly police department of Gainesville (population 36,306, per the U.S. Census Bureau)?

Among those who have left Facebook comments, the nays appear to have it, but it’s close. Responses range from thanking the department for its warning to accusing the department of fear-mongering to boasting about how it doesn’t matter what you put on your car as long as you carry a concealed weapon.

Perhaps the most instructive response is worth a thousand words:

dinosaur

It is unclear whether the scene depicted is meant metaphorically as a cautionary tale with the same basic message as the Gainesville Police Department’s, or whether this is just an illustration of dinosaurs eating a family.

However you take it, please drive safely, and watch out for predators.
