WASHINGTON – Actress and Political Activist Jane Fonda and her Grace and Frankie co-star Sam Waterston were arrested at a “Fire Drill Friday” climate change protest.

“It’s called civil disobedience and good people have engaged in it for centuries,” Fonda said on Friday at the protest. “If we don’t do what’s right within 11 years we’re going to face a catastrophe, so we have to do everything we can to stop the warming of the planet.”

When asked what she would tell President Trump if she had a chance, Fonda said, “I wouldn’t waste my breath.”

Fonda, holding up a sign that read “Green New Deal Now!” marched with protestors from the Capitol grounds to the street in front of the Library of Congress shouting, “Fossil fuels have got to go.” Police closed off the road and arrested activists including Fonda and Waterston for standing in the street to protest and not moving.

Fonda was arrested last week at a similar protest outside of the Capitol building. Waterston told reporters that Friday was his first arrest.
