If you want to know how incredibly blinded Democrats are by their hatred for President Donald Trump, look no further than this tweet from Rep. Eric Swalwell. The congressman for (and from) California compares the president, who tries to serve his country to the best of his ability, to a wannabe terrorist:
Did the “shoe bomber” blow up the plane? Nope.
Is he in jail for life? Yes.
Would you want to sit next to him on a plane tomorrow? Nope.
Turns out, @realDonaldTrump, in America, we punish incomplete crimes.

This is completely uncalled for. You can disagree with Trump on a number of issues — or even on all of them. You can believe he has to be impeached for his actions regarding Ukraine. Sure, it’s a ridiculous opinion, but it’s not one hundred percent, utterly and completely insane.
But comparing Trump to Richard Colvin Reid, the radical Islamist who tried to blow up an airplane with a shoe bomb? It doesn’t get any crazier than that. We’re talking about a guy who wanted to kill hundreds of people. Hundreds! Citizens! And Rep. Swalwell compares that terrorist, who is rightfully serving a lifetime sentence, to the democratically-elected president of the United States of America.
I called it “insane” and “uncalled for,” but it’s actually much worse than that. This is sick. Comparing the president to a terrorist goes much further than “politics as usual,” even in this hyperpartisan age.
The only good news is that Eric Swalwell was one of the first candidates to drop out of the Democratic primary race. That tells us all about his appeal among Democratic primary voters.
Having said that, he’s running for reelection next year, and chances are he’ll win. If that does indeed happen, it’s yet another reason for California to be ashamed of itself — the other main reason being, of course, a woman called Nancy Pelosi.
