An Iranian woman who converted from Islam to Christianity has been sentenced to one year in prison. According to the aid group International Christian Response, the Mad Mullahs and their judges have found her guilty of “acting against national security” and engaging in “propaganda against the system.”
The Christian Post reports that friends of 65-year-old Mahrokh Kanbari say that the judge was very rude to her during the trial, and even tried to humiliate her when she had the audacity to disagree with him.
Kanbari was arrested at her home last Christmas Eve. No, that is not a joke. The authorities, personified by three intelligence agents, purposefully planned her arrest to coincide with Christmas. When they took her, they also confiscated mobile phones, Bibles and other materials related to Christianity.
Although she was released after paying a bail of $2.500, she was officially charged with acting against national security in January. She was also told by the authorities to go to a mullah to be “instructed” on returning to Islam.
Open Doors USA explains that Kanbari is far from the only Christian victim of religious persecution in Iran:
“Christians are forbidden from sharing their faith with non-Christians,” an Open Doors fact sheet on Iran reads. “Therefore, church services in Persian, the national language, are not allowed. Converts from Islam face persecution from the government; if they attend an underground house church, they face the constant threat of arrest.”
Speaking of refugees… why isn’t the West inviting these Christians to come on over? These people aren’t safe in their own country, they’re truly persecuted… and when they come to Europe or the United States, they’ll almost certainly quickly adapt.
Strange how the left isn’t talking about them, isn’t it?
