On Saturday afternoon, President Trump announced on Twitter he is considering labeling antifa, the militant alt-left group that fancies itself as anti-fascist, as a terrorist organization.

This announcement comes on the heels of Senators Ted Cruz (R-Texas) and Bill Cassidy (D-La.) introducing a resolution condemning the group’s violent acts and calling on the United States to designate the group a domestic terrorist organization. “Antifa is a group of hateful, intolerant radicals who pursue their unhinged agenda through aggressive violence,” Cruz said in a statement last week. “Time and time again their actions have demonstrated that their only purpose is to inflict harm on those who oppose their views. The hate and violence they spread must be stopped…”

Last month, Andy Ngo the editor at the online magazine Quillette was brutally assaulted by antifa thugs in Portland, resulting in brain injury, but antifa has a lengthy record of violence that includes rioting, assaults, and other crimes. They use their so-called anti-fascist motives as justification for their violence. So, if they don’t like what you believe, you’re dubbed a fascist and they feel it justifies their criminal behavior—similar to the way radical Islamists feel justified to kill infidels. The benefit antifa has over radical Islamists is that they branded themselves anti-fascists, which has the liberal media duped into believing that they have good intentions. “It says it right in the name: Antifa. Anti-fascism, which is what they were there fighting,” explained CNN’s Don Lemon as he attempted to justify their violence a year ago.

Trump needs to declare them a terrorist organization now. It would be incredible to see Democrats in Congress or 2020 presidential candidates condemn the designation and defend antifa’s violence.
