Shooting at the Gilroy Garlic Festival

Yesterday was the last day of the Gilroy Garlic Festival and a maniac opened fire, killing four people and injuring 15. The gunman was shot and killed by authorities. Law enforcement is looking for a possible second shooter.

The suspects used “some sort of tool” to cut through the perimeter fence to gain access to the festival, [Gilroy Police Chief Scot] Smithee said. There were no posted security cameras at the festival.

The Gilroy Police Department tweeted that the scene is still active. A law enforcement source told CNN they have recovered a firearm and rifle ammunition from the shooting.

California has some of the most restrictive gun laws in the country so it will be interesting to find out what sort of CA-legal firearm was being used and how it was obtained.

One of the maniac’s victims was a 6-year-old boy.

Among those killed on Sunday was a 6-year-old boy, his grandmother told ABC San Francisco station KGO.

“He was a really happy, loving boy,” Maribel Romero said. “I want justice for my grandson.”

The boy’s mother and a different grandmother also were among taking bullets.

Another attendee said his 12-year-old cousin was shot.

Palacios was with a large group of family, about 30, when he and his cousins ran after hearing the shots, at one point turning around and seeing his young relative with a bullet wound in her leg.

“She was hurting a lot,” added Palacios, who said a family member drove her to the ambulance.

Trump’s a racist

It’s an evergreen title, isn’t it? The latest kerfuffle involves Trump’s attack on Rep. Elijah Cummings, who wants to dish it out and not take it. Cummings was snarking off on the border, a favorite talking point, and Trump responded about the hot mess that is his Baltimore district.

“Cumming District is a disgusting, rat and rodent infested mess. If he spent more time in Baltimore, maybe he could help clean up this very dangerous & filthy place,” Trump tweeted.

And that’s racist. Because Cummings is black and you aren’t allowed to say anything to certain people who are protected. The protected crowd are designated minorities who are Democrats. Women, Hispanic Americans, African Americans, LGBTQ,  etc., who are NOT leftists are allowed and encouraged to be attacked.

Baltimore has plenty of problems. Did anyone watch “The Wire”? The city has has a murder rate that is more than 10 times the national average. There’s a rat problem and that’s not a dog whistle, it’s a fact. Fox News reminds us that Bernie Sanders called Baltimore a third world country. So all the pearl-clutching is ridiculous. We all watched the Freddie Gray riots when the residents burned down their own neighborhood businesses.

The most important issue here is how much longer we as a society are going to accept this new standard where there is an uber-class of people who are above scrutiny. Trump doesn’t single out the Democrats’ protected minorities, he swings at those who try and punch him. Jim Acosta, Jerry Nadler, James Comey, John Brennan, Adam Schiff, and Jeb Bush are just some of the white folks Trump has attacked. But this isn’t really about whether Trump is racist, this is just a political power move. There’s no difference between what Trump does and says and what the media-Democrats say other than that the media-Democrats control a medium that they have self-designated as legitimate. That’s the only difference.
