Here We Go Again: CNN Implies Cartoonist Was Fired Over Anti-Trump Cartoon. Turns Out He Wasn't

Proving that journalistic integrity isn’t one of their corporate strengths, CNN published an article with the misleading (to the point of being outright deceitful) headline: “Canadian Cartoonist Loses Job After Illustration of Trump Went Viral.”

Obviously intended to gin up support for Canadian cartoonist Michael de Adder while stoking the raging anti-Trump fires burning inside many of their readers, the article opens with the statement:

A Canadian cartoonist’s illustrations of Donald Trump playing golf over the bodies of two drowned migrants went viral Wednesday. Two days later, Michael de Adder said on Twitter that he had been let go by a publishing company in New Brunswick, Canada.

Combined with the article’s title, when reading CNN’s opening lines the reader is left with the unmistakable impression that de Adder was fired because of his cartoon of President Trump.

I’m not a fan of people being fired for expressing opinions and views that I disagree with. Likewise, I’m not a fan of large tech companies that monopolize what amounts to society’s “public square,” booting people off their platforms for expressing unpopular viewpoints. To put it simply, I’m not a fan of censorship. Unfortunately, we live in a time when the ramping up of censorship threatens to propel our society into a real-life dystopian nightmare.

However, not every instance of someone losing their job can be chalked up to censorship or some form of ideological persecution. Turns out, such is the case with Canadian cartoonist Michael de Adder, no matter how much CNN might want readers to connect those dots.

Buried deep in the article, CNN posted a statement from the publishing company Brunswick News, Inc. denying that de Adder had been fired over the cartoon. In fact, the cartoonist wasn’t even an employee of the company to begin with. He was a subcontractor.

With the 2020 presidential election looming, we can expect CNN and their MSM buddies to do whatever they can to paint a world filled with oppression generated by President Trump and his supporters. Fearmongering is a great way to entice people to vote for whichever socialist the Democrats nominate. The hypocritical irony, of course, is that the MSM will seek to dismiss or outright ignore the growing ideologically rooted censorship of conservatives by tech companies like Twitter, Facebook, and Pinterest.
