The New York Times is reporting that two prison guards have been arrested for failing to check on billionaire pedophile Jeffery Epstein on the night that he was found dead in his cell. Early Tuesday morning, two federal Bureau of Prisons employees were taken into custody. Charges are expected, alleging that they failed in their duty to check on Epstein and fabricated log entries to make it appear that they had. The officers had been placed on administrative leave after Epstein was found dead. The warden of the Metropolitan Correctional Center where the officers were employed was also reassigned.
The circumstances around Epstein’s death were so unusual that a meme sprung up on both sides of the aisle illustrating that no one believes the official explanation of suicide. At the time of his death, it was discovered that the guards had not checked on him, even though he was thought to be suicidal after a failed attempt. In addition, the cameras facing his cell malfunctioned and did not record anything from that night, and several bones in his neck were broken, which is more consistent with homicide, the Washington Post reported.
Among the bones broken in Epstein’s neck was the hyoid bone, which in men is near the Adam’s apple. Such breaks can occur in those who hang themselves, particularly if they are older, according to forensics experts and studies on the subject. But they are more common in victims of homicide by strangulation, the experts said.
The arrests of these two prison guards feels like they’re throwing a bone to people who do not accept the official story that Epstein, the man who might have brought down the most prominent people in the world including Bill Clinton and Prince Andrew with sordid sex crimes against minors, just up and killed himself while on suicide watch. It does not appear to be convincing anyone that this investigation is serious.

While these two prison guards are sitting in jail, Ghislaine Maxwell, named by victims as being a procurement specialist who brought underaged girls to Epstein’s various lairs, is still walking around a free woman. It’s a sad time in America when no one has any trust in our government institutions or justice system, but perhaps this mess of a case will be the final straw that spurs a cleanup.
