Jill Biden's Book Tour Is a Midterm Gift for the GOP

With the midterms coming up in November, the Democrat Party doesn’t need distractions, and the Bidens are providing a distraction they don’t need because they’re too focused on trying to restore Joe Biden’s legacy. It’s not going well, and Jill Biden's attempt at damage control is backfiring spectacularly, and she only has herself to blame.

Last week, in a new CBS News interview with correspondent Rita Braver, Jill Biden claimed that while watching her husband debate President Donald Trump, she thought that Biden was having a stroke. She described watching him from the audience, noting his hoarse voice, sentences that trailed off, and a diminished presence that terrified her. "I was frightened because I had never ever seen Joe like that before or since, never," she said. Then came the kicker: "I mean, as I watched it, I thought, 'Oh my God, he's having a stroke,'" adding that it "scared me to death."

So she sat there. And watched. And let the debate continue.

Her story made zero sense. As PJ Media previously pointed out, Jill Biden praised her husband's performance on stage before supporters. "Joe, you did such a great job answering every question! You knew all the facts," she said, smiling for the cameras. It was a joke then, and it’s still a joke today. But, for some reason, Jill expects us to believe that she legitimately thought her husband was having a serious medical emergency.

No one is buying. Jill Biden is getting absolutely trashed for her efforts to rewrite history. And the funny thing is, the liberal media isn’t even trying to give her any cover. On Monday, she gave an interview with Craig Melvin on The Today Show, and he asked her about the obvious contradiction: if she thought Joe might be having a stroke, how did she justify spending days and weeks afterward insisting he was fine?

Her answer made everything worse.

"Well, Craig, look at it from my point of view," she began. "So, I'm watching, just like everybody else was, scared to death, like, what is going on. He gets off the stage, I see he appears to be okay. He says to me, Jill, I really — in other words — messed up, didn't I? And I said, ‘Yes, you did.’ And so, we get off — and I know we're going into another event, or we have two more to do. And my mind is racing. What do I say to him? What do I say to him? I'm his wife. I've got to lift him up. So, we go to the next event, and I'm thinking, saying, what do I say that will lift him up that is true? I want to say things that are true. So, I said, ‘You answered every question.’ My mind was racing."

Melvin's response was, to say the least, an understatement. "That's a pretty low bar."

She kept going. "Well, so, I had to sort of lift him up. I'm his wife. I'm not going to get out on the stage there and say, ‘Joe, you really screwed that up.’ I mean — and we have all of our supporters, you know, so that's who we are. I had to support him. I couldn't come out and — I mean, really, publicly, say, ‘Joe, you did a terrible job in a debate?’”

There it is. That's the whole confession, wrapped in the language of spousal loyalty.

The big takeaway here is that she knew. She admitted she knew. And she went out and told the American people the opposite anyway — not once, but repeatedly, for days — weeks — and even now, years later. She admitted that she wasn't just a supportive wife. She was an active participant in shaping a false public narrative about the fitness of the sitting president of the United States.

Jill Biden seems to think that framing this as a wife protecting her husband somehow softens the blow and makes it all okay. It doesn't. If anything, it confirms what millions of Americans already suspected: that she was actively enabling the cover-up of Joe Biden’s health.

"I'm his wife" is not an alibi for what she did. As far as I’m concerned, it's a confession that she was part of the scheme the entire time. This is going to affect the entire Democrat Party and force them to answer some uncomfortable questions at the worst possible time as they hope to flip Congress.
