Something significant may be happening with Iran right now, and the details are still being hammered out. But if you were paying attention on Saturday, you noticed something telling: before the ink was even dry, before the final terms were released, before anyone outside the negotiating rooms knew what had actually been agreed to, the left had already written its narrative. And that tells you everything you need to know about what's really going on here.
On Saturday afternoon, President Donald Trump posted from the Oval Office that the United States and Iran are nearing a major agreement following talks involving a broad coalition of Middle Eastern leaders and officials. Trump said he had just concluded “a very good call” from the Oval Office with leaders from Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Pakistan, Türkiye, Egypt, Jordan, and Bahrain regarding “the Islamic Republic of Iran, and all things related to a Memorandum of Understanding pertaining to PEACE.”
According to Trump, “An Agreement has been largely negotiated, subject to finalization between the United States of America, the Islamic Republic of Iran, and the various other Countries, as listed.” He also revealed that he separately spoke with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin “Bibi” Netanyahu, and said that the call “likewise, went very well.”
Trump added that “Final aspects and details of the Deal are currently being discussed, and will be announced shortly.” He also claimed that “the Strait of Hormuz will be opened” as part of the broader agreement.
That's the situation as it stands. Cautiously promising. Far from finalized. Trump himself said he was a "solid 50/50" on whether to sign a deal or resume bombing campaigns against Iran earlier that same day. So even he is trying to manage expectations. And frankly, we've been through this kind of thing before, and we should wait and see what happens.

Yet before the details were even known, left-wing influencers were already in full meltdown, trashing the deal with all the authority of someone who had absolutely no idea what was in it. Brian Krassenstein, a reliable megaphone for left-wing talking points and fake news, posted almost immediately after Trump's announcement. "It appears that an agreement has been reached with Iran," he wrote. "My guess is that it will put us in a worse position than the Obama deal plus gas prices will remain high for months."
His guess. He was making a guess about a deal he hadn't read, that hadn't been released, whose final terms were still being negotiated. And he stated it with total confidence, as a prediction worth broadcasting to his audience.
Then there was Harry Sisson, who outdid even that. "Looks like Trump just surrendered to Iran again. No mention of eradicating their nuclear program, Iran still controls the Strait of Hormuz, etc. A total disaster!" he posted.
It’s one thing to disagree with or debate the terms of a deal, but it’s another thing entirely to trash an agreement before the details are known or even finalized. There’s a legitimate conversation to have once we know what's actually in it. Skepticism is healthy, especially given Iran's history of negotiating in bad faith. Trump has been pressing his team for weeks on how to handle Iran's stockpile of enriched uranium, which he's labeled "nuclear dust," and he has made clear that any final agreement must prevent Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon. Those are the right demands to make, and whether the final deal delivers on them matters enormously.
I'm sure no agreement will be perfect, and there will be legitimate issues to debate. But what you're watching from the left isn't skepticism. It's preemptive narrative-building. The pattern is unmistakable: whatever the final deal turns out to be, whatever terms are secured, however favorable the outcome is for American interests, the left has already decided the story. Trump caved. Trump surrendered. Trump gave Iran everything. They're not waiting for facts, because the facts are irrelevant to the narrative they've already chosen.
No final deal has been reached. And frankly, it may not happen. But what has already been revealed is the left's playbook, written before a single final clause was agreed to.
