Something pretty significant happened on Capitol Hill this week, and the Democratic Party wanted no part of it. A CIA whistleblower sat before the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee and laid out, in precise and damning detail, how the official narrative around COVID-19's origins was manufactured and who helped manufacture it. And no Democrats showed up.
Which raises a question worth sitting with: Were they protecting Anthony Fauci, China, or themselves?
James Erdman III, a senior CIA operations officer, told the committee, chaired by Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky, that the suppression of the lab-leak theory "was significantly influenced by Anthony Fauci, injecting himself into the [intelligence community].”
Erdman described a deliberate pattern of deception. Fauci repeatedly placed scientists in key oversight roles who believed the bogus wet-market theory, effectively suppressing the lab-leak theory, which is now widely regarded as the most likely scenario.
Of course, anyone who dared bring up that theory during the height of COVID risked getting censored, and outlets like PJ Media risked getting demonetized. Yet it was, and remains, the most likely theory.

Sen. Josh Hawley (R-Mo.) argued that Fauci lied "because he helped fund the Wuhan lab" and that Fauci supported and funded gain-of-function research before trying to hide that from the American people. "I hope he's indicted," Hawley said, indicating that he believes that the basis for criminal charges already exists. Of course, Joe Biden handed Fauci a preemptive pardon on his way out the door, which complicates the math on any future indictment, but it doesn't erase the moral and political reckoning now unfolding in public.
So why the boycott? The charitable explanation is that Democrats were protesting the hearing’s legitimacy. Maybe. But that explanation gets thin fast when you consider the alternative: that they simply didn't want to go on record defending Fauci or attacking China. Democrats spent years elevating Fauci as the savior of our country, even as evidence mounted that he was a central figure in one of the most consequential institutional cover-ups in modern American history.
It’s amazing how many things have changed.
Democrats once used COVID as a weapon against Trump. They hammered him on every death and distorted his public comments. Then Biden took office, and the script flipped — suddenly Biden and Fauci were the heroes, on track to end the pandemic.
And then everything got worse. The Democrats want you to forget that part.
The COVID narrative was never just about a virus. The pandemic became a pretext for sweeping government control of every aspect of our lives: movement, commerce, speech, and children's education. Fauci was the face of that apparatus. If he's now revealed as someone who helped create the crisis, he then used that influence to accumulate and suppress dissent; the implications don't stop at his doorstep. They walk straight into the halls of every institution and all the Democrats who propped him up, silenced critics, and demanded compliance.
It’s clear that Democrats want to move on from the COVID pandemic. As to who they’re protecting, Fauci, China, or themselves, I think the answer is all three.
